Aftershot Pro crashing when batch exporting to JPEG

Post by jjb2013 »

Hello everyone / anyone,

Hopefully somebody can help here - i have a collection of approximately 7500 images. A mixture of JPEG and RAW. I've been trying to batch export them to a folder all as JPEG but aftershot keeps crashing about half way through. I am able to export in smaller batches, but I'd really like to be able to do them in one batch. There is no error message before Aftershot closes and unfortunately I can't see any pattern as to when it crashes or what images it's processing when it crashes. Here is my system info ....

You do mean 'crash' and not 'hang'?
I find if I run two Batch Outputs at the same time then ASP often 'hangs' and stops outputting the JPEGs but you can click around and do other things in ASP.
Typically I am running a full-size JPEG export and a resized JPEG to a different location.
I then have to 'kill' ASP and start again.
What happens when ASP 'crashes' for you?
I've decided it is caused when I use Plugins.

Hi - when I say 'crashes' I mean the program just closes without any warning. This only happens if I run one batch process on all the photos at once. If I break it down into smaller batches then it does complete, and I can run multiple batches at the same time.

I have same problem.
Try to set File-Preferences-Perfomance-"Batch Items at Flight"=1

P.S. I received the fastest batch export (Win and Linux without craches) with this configuration:

I had forgotten but I must admit to being a thrill-seeker a couple of years ago

I have "Batch Items in Flight" set to 3 - perhaps I should reduce it, although the default is 3.

Also, I find I have "I/O Threads" set to 2. Again, not having SSDs I guess this should be the default of 1.

Thanks for reminding me of my miss-spent youth and about these options :D
