Hi Dexter
The golden rule is to retain the original properties of your video file, so if they use UFF then that should be used in the final output file/video.
Changing to Frame Based may improve quality especially when using still images (Slide Shows) and indeed Moshe seems it indicate this.
If your originals are using Frame Based then you should retain that and use Frame Based.
There are occasions where UFF and LFF video is mixed in the same project, then it gets a little complicated as to which way to go. A bit of trial and error may be required, converting all to Frame Based may be the way to go.
Certainly for internet use Frame Based is the norm.
Don’t use Nero so cannot comment on the process used there but would have thought the original DVD Folder properties would be used, unless Nero re-samples the files before burning the disc?
Do you find Nero produces better quality discs?

If you are using Nero to burn a DVD Folder to disc, there is no alteration required. The DVD Folder is already the complete DVD, only requiring to be transferred to disc. The Nero 'burn folder to disc' function does this without making any alterations. (I use it regularly, and also Ashampoo Burning Studio 12, which operates in a similar way.)

Re: UFF or Frame Based for HD Footage burned to DVD ?
Thanx for responding.
When i use nero9---Create and edit---author,edit,and capture video---make dvd---DVD video---Import "the file"---"i make chapters"---hit Next---Create Menu---hit Next "twice"---select "More" on bottom---Video Options---Sample Format---it is in here that i have to select Progressive, Interlaced (Top or Bottom), Automatic.
I could not find "burn folder to disc". Is there a better way that im missing or is my way fine

Hi Dexter.
I have the same Nero 9 program and have been doing the same thing your doing. Whatever field that I used to make the Video_TS (or VOB file) in Corel, is the same field that I select in Nero. If I selected FRAMEBASED in Corel, I will select PROGRESSIVE in Nero. If I select LFF in Corel, I select INTERLACED LFF in Nero. I have always thought that was weird that Nero would give us that option while burning a VOB file

Hi Guys
Please read Kens last reply again regarding “burn a DVD folder to disc.
Can I ask a question, why are you using Nero? No problem in doing that but why?
Is it simply because the menu structure in Nero has a better selection.
Is it because you need multiple copies of the DVD Folder, then use Disc Images and Video Studio.
As I say not a problem if that’s your preference, I simply use Video Studio to burn the disc.

Re: UFF or Frame Based for HD Footage burned to DVD ?
I don't think I have any computer with Nero 9 on it so cannot check. However, I have been using Nero since at least version 6 and have always done it this way. In Nero 12, which I currently use, I select the Nero Burning ROM module, and in that select DVD-Video as the output. Then click the New button. This brings up a screen with my computer's directory tree. I navigate to where my DVD Folder is located, and in it the Video_TS folder. I drag this folder and drop it in the second window from left. All the various ifo, bup and vob files then populate that window. I click the Burn button, and on the new screen which appears adjust burning speed and give the disc a name, then burn. No other adjustments required as the Video_TS folder already exists with necessary Field Order already in place.
While previous versions of Nero had a different menu structure, much the same workflow has nevertheless applied.

Re: UFF or Frame Based for HD Footage burned to DVD ?
Hi Lata, I used to use Corel to burn Dvds since VS9 but by VS12 started noticing more customers complaining about dvd freezes, etc. When i started using VS X4 i started using nero to burn and ended up not getting as much freezing on customers dvds. There is that possibility that it could be my computer but i read, maybe, in this forum years ago about using a different burning program can help eliminate Coasters.
Hi Ken, I actually plan on buying a new nero program along with the new VS X6 so ill give your way a shot soon.
Thanks Moshe also for your response, glade im not alone!
