And the MSP8 transitions will be a lot easier to manage than the Premiere ones, as well! It will certainly give Adobe a run for their money but it will be very difficult to kill Premiere when the latter is the only editor with plug-ins for some hardware cards, such as the Matrox ones. However, the advantages of hardware cards is being nibbled away by increasingly advanced software, such as MSP8, combined with faster and more powerful CPUs and cheap RAM.

That's correct. Basically what h/w cards give you now is a ton of effects in realtime (of which about 5% actually get used on a regular basis), a TV out and multiple I/O's (IEEE-1394 and analog in/out).

The Storm 2 is already out of production and the RT.X100 can't do HD, which means once HD hits big next year it'll be ready for the heap. Big? Yes...look for sub-$1000 HDV cameras a lot sooner than you think.

AXIO, Matrox's followup SD hardware, costs $7500 USD and the HD vversion $11,500 USD :!:

What about existing projects? If they are in a Va/Fx/Vb format, how do they import?

They are translated on import to the new single track layout. At this time you can re-save them as an MSP8 project file.

Moving tracks between timelines

Post by CaptainKen2 »

I need to move tracks from the Main Timeline to a new Timeline. Any idea how to do it?

Uh it might be more effective to start your own thread with your question in the topic, rather than attach a request to a 3 year old thread about the imminent arrival of MSP8 (ahh, those were the days!).

Or even read the manual, i'm sure it explains how to nest timelines (if that is what you're asking)

I figured it out. I was doing everything correct, the problem was that MSP8 wasn't smart enough to auto add the needed number of tracks to match the number I was copying in.
