DVD menu functions in X5

Post by beckett5 »

I am using Video Suite X5 and have made a video with chapters. After playing one of several chapters I want the DVD to return to the menu but it continues to play the remainder of the disc. I found a setting for Clip Playback that has settings of "Continue to Play the Next Clip" and "Back to Menu". I set this to 'Back to Menu" re-burn, but after playing a chapter, it still continues to play the disc and does not return to the menu. Anyone have any ideas?

That is the way chapters work in VideoStudio - a chapter is just a shortcut to a specified starting point in your video clip which will then play to the end of the clip before carrying out the command you set in the burn module.

Chapters and clips are two very different things - a chapter point is just a shortcut to a point in a video clip it is not a starting and ending point in it's own right.

A clip is a complete video from start to finish - no matter how long or short - then it will obey the command you have set for the 'clip' in the burn module.

If it is your intention to allow viewers to select at random small portions of a video which will play and then return to a menu you need to split your long video into numerous small clips - and import each one individually to the timeline in the "Create Disc" module - - used in this manner they are then usually called titles.

when you then create your DVD menu you will have a number of choices - much like chapters - but each one will play individually and if you so wish - return to the menu when they end.
