Unable to Register Corel VideoStudio Pro X6

Unable to Register Corel VideoStudio Pro X6
I setup a Corel account and registered my copy of Corel VideoStudio Pro X6.
Every time I start the program, it asks me to register it. But when I enter the email address I used for my Corel account, all I get is a blank box. (See the attachment.) Consequently, I get asked to register every time I start the program.
Corel support has no interest in my problem: They won't even acknowledge my support request.
I'm wondering whether I should stop wasting my time and ask for a refund. Can anyone here help me?

So far Corel technical support has offered no solutions or work-arounds. And there's no help coming from this forum. Now I understand why VideoStudio sells at such a deep discount.

If you go to your account at Corel.com can you see your registration of VideoStudio in "Your Registered products"
While I understand it is an annoyance having that pop up every time you start VideoStudio can you close it and then use VS.
if you can close the white box can you then access the Corel guide and click the "do not show on startup" box
Many users are getting technical support by reporting their problem on the VideoStudio Facebook page - you might like to try that here :-

Re: Unable to Register Corel VideoStudio Pro X6
If by "the Corel guide" you mean the box that is asking me to register (see the attachment), that box is useless to me. I cannot click on the Home, Learn or Do More tabs. When I click on those tabs nothing happens and no messages. No mention in Windows Event Viewer, either. I can't believe Corel finds this acceptable. I AM TOTALLY UNABLE TO USE THE PROGRAM'S HELP.

Yes by "Corel Guide" I meant that box which you have just posted an image of with "Corel Guide" up in the title bar.
But you did not answer my original question - when you go to your account on the Corel.com website can you see your registration in "My registered products" - unless your product is shown as registered Corel will not attempt to help you, If it is not showing as registered you can register on the website.
and of course the other question is - are you connected to the internet when you click the register now box in the Corel Guide.

Yes, I can see my registration in "My registered products".
I have an 'always on' broadband connection the internet.
The other two user accounts on my computer - which are configured with the same internet settings and security software as my user account - do not see the 'Register now' button. Only my user account has this problem.

Re: Unable to Register Corel VideoStudio Pro X6
so it is not a fault in VideoStudio but an incorrect (possibly security) setting in your Windows user account ?
Re: Unable to Register Corel VideoStudio Pro X6
It would be convenient to blame the user in this situation, however all user accounts have the same security applications and settings. I am the sole administrator on this computer and I make sure that all users have the same security applications and settings.
In my user account, registration fails even when all security applications are disabled and all web browsers are reverted to default settings.
I also noticed that this same problem plagued users in the previous (X5) version of VideoStudio.

Re: Unable to Register Corel VideoStudio Pro X6
Hi
Some things you could try?
If the user account has by some reason saved a corrupt file???
1 / You could try deleting the contents of the temporary folder
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Temp
2 / Messages related to the Corel Guide and program are saved here
C:\ProgramData\Corel\Messages
Try deleting/ moving the messages, not sure if the Messages are User account related or general?
By the way I assume you are running the purchased version not the trial.
If you did run the TBYB program did you uninstall before installing the purchased version?

Re: Unable to Register Corel VideoStudio Pro X6
SOLVED.
After much hit-and-miss experimentation, I discovered that a number of specific third-party cookies must be accepted in order to start using the Corel Guide, and they must be accepted specifically by Internet Explorer. This is so even if Internet Explorer is not your default browser.
Even if you have already registered VideoStudio in your Corel Account, you will not be allowed access to the Corel Guide unless you register again, from within the program.
If you use a software tool that manages cookies, the cookies needed to register VideoStudio from within the program will likely be erased and you will not be allowed to use the Corel Guide.
Therefore, you must disable any software tools that manage cookies before starting VideoStudio. Once the program has accepted your registration and the Corel Guide is available for your use, you will not be prompted again to register when you start the program. Now you can go back to managing cookies.

Cookie managers, registry cleaners, etc cause more trouble then they are worth.

Re: Unable to Register Corel VideoStudio Pro X6
I am having a similar problem registering VS Ultimate X6, but I don't think it has reference to cookies. I have seen several different responses when I try to register with a browser:
It appears that the server may just be having problems, so it might be fixed after a while, but it would be nice if Corel would let us know what to expect.
- A message saying the server is busy.
- A 500 response message indicating an error in server processing.
- And now just the text "OK" in the browser window and nothing else.

Re: Unable to Register Corel VideoStudio Pro X6
Hi yoder
Today there does seem to be some problems in displaying the Corel Guide, we did recently report an issue with X4.
For me the guide displays but with a wide white band across the window. I can access the Do-More tab but is very slow to load?
I think Corel may be working on the Corel Guide server
Maybe try accessing the guide later

also having issues with x5

Re: Unable to Register Corel VideoStudio Pro X6
I am having trouble changing my e-mail address in my account. Apparently I logged in several years ago using an address that is no longer active. When I try to change that address to my current address, the system tells me that the current address is already in use. However, when I try to log in using my current address, the system tells my that address doesn't exist in the system. If you can offer advice on how I might resolve the problem, I would be most grateful.
Thank you for your attention to this inquiry. I look forward to your response.
Regards,
Rob Parkinson
