Slow motion when editing

Post by lassegus »

I am a user of VS X4 Pro but I have not used it for a long time until now...

When I loaded a video from my camera into the library and from there into the timeline I got a problem.
When editing in clip-mode the clip appears in slow motion with a noisy sound! When running in Project-mode the clips appear OK. When rendering the result is OK but it is difficult not to work normally in clip-mode.

What can be the problem? Have I changed by mistake any parameter in preferences?
I can´t remember that I have had those problems before...

Can you tell us the properties of the video you are using -- right click on one of the clips in the VS timeline and copy all its Properties here, please, or upload a screen grab of the Properties box.

Does it happen with video from another source, or only from that camera? What is the brand and model of the camera?

Hello Ken and thanks for your attention,

I made a re-installlation but my problem remains.

My videocamera is a JVC GZ HD6AG creating TOD-files which are in fact MPEG2-files and have allways worked fine in VS X4 earlier.

Properties for a clip as follows:

File format: MPEG-2 (Transport stream)
File size: 54596KB
Duration: 16.800 sec

Video type: MPEG-2 Video upper field first
Total frames: 420 frames
Attributes: 24 bits 1440x1080 16:9
Frame rate: 25 frames/sec
Data rate: 25000 kbps

Audio type: MPEG Audio layer 2 files
Total samples: 806400 Samples
Attributes: 48000 Hz 16 bit stereo
Layer: 2
Bitrate: 384 kbps

With those properties and your computer, there should be no problem in playing those files smoothly, especially if you used to be able to. All I can think of is that some Windows update may have upset the performance of X4. You say you haven't used X4 for some time. Have you fully updated X4 with the various service packs (3 of them)? If not, have a look at http://www.corel.com/corel/pages/index. ... id=1100002 which contains the downloads.

The only other thing I can think of is to suggest you use SmartProxy. That will create standard definition copies of your HD clips. Those copies ("proxies") should play smoothly and enable you to do your editing quickly. When you have finished editing, the edits are then applied to the original HD video, for rendering. Note that creation of the proxy files takes time, so you need to be patient.
