Hello, I am new to PSP, I purchased X5 Ultimate last spring and have been happy with the results. My only complaint is the extraordinarily long start up time. From clicking the icon to being able to use it takes about 2 minutes. The X5 outline or shell appears within 15-20 seconds and then there is a round blue circle spinning in the center of the work area for the remainder of the 2 minutes. Once initialization has completed X5 works very well for me.
I upgraded to X6 Ultimate and found it to be amazingly faster, which was my hope. 15-20 seconds and it is ready to use. This holds true for the 32 & 64 bit programs.
I would like to use X5 for the existing plugins that shipped with it. It is up to date with SP3.
Any suggestions?
Regards,
Micheal

Re: PSP X5 long boot time
Do you have your X5 set to open up in Edit mode rather than Manage. I do not use Manage mode at all and have used all versions opening in Edit mode with no problems and no long delays.
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867

Re: PSP X5 long boot time
Hello,
I have the same problem with long time to start up. It really showed up after I installed Lightroom. I have just updated Lightroom to 5.2 and PSP X5 takes even longer to start up.
I have uninstalled once but no luck.
any thoughts?
thanks

Re: PSP X5 long boot time
Hi Scott, I also have LTR 4 installed. PSP X5 has been slow for me from the initial install. Once up and running it has been wonderful without any issues. I am not going to fix the startup any more. I have upgraded to X6 and have both 64 & 32 bit programs installed. Both boot quickly and are working well. If I need to return to X5 for some reason, I will just start it early.
