Is there a way to move a selection without it becoming a floating selection in PSP X6 ?
Every time I select a part of the image and try to move it, it becomes a floating selection and then I have to go to the menu and defloat.
Is there a way in X6 to move parts of image without the float, defloat process ?

You can use the Edit Selection command or if you have either the Move tool or the Selection tool, right-click on it and you can grab it and move it that way.

The move tool moves everything on the layer.
I just want to move the area inside my selection.

Right-click on the selection to move it.

Sorry, I'm not being clear.
I don't want to move the selection. I want to move the pixels inside the selection without the floating layer and then having defloat.

If it floats the selection then doing a simple deselect also defloats it automatically. If it's promoted to a full layer, then yeah a merge, or when you save it if the fileformat does not support layers it will tend to merge them for you eliminating a step.

By wanting to move the pixels on a layer you need to have 2 layers so that the pixels on the upper layer are separate from the lower layer and so are free to move without disturbing the lower layer. This is how normal text works and how it can be moved around.
If you want to move pixels around on the layer without creating a new layer then try using the warp brush and you will see the difference.

Thanks Paul and Hart
I think you've answered my question. There is no way to move pixels around without the float, defloat process.
After moving, I found a simple Ctl+D will do the defloat for me. So all good now.
