This may be a stupid question... but where on earth are the Component Designer files (banners etc) situated on my computer?
When I launch the designer, the wizard asks me to choose a component, after which it says it may still be on the Ulead website. If I try that, it says it has already been downloaded, and asks me to browse... but I simply cannot find them. Well, I find them by doing a scan... but the scan window is too small to show me the path.... so it doesn't help any.
Pretty incredible...
Please help!!

Componen Designer files? where

When you open the Component Designer, the Wizard should have all of the selections listed. When you click on an item you should get the item in the Component Designer Dialog Box that allows you to modify the item and then export that item to the Desktop.
Here lies the problem, you can go get the individual components in C:\Program Files\Ulead systems\Ulead PhotoImpact 10\WcsData\*.*, but, you will not have the above ability to alter the Component Design. Should you alter the original component you loose it! You can always try by making a copy of the original component and then working on it on the Desktop. You also cannot call the Component Designer Module separately, “wcs.exe,” as only PhotoImpact can open this file.
It sounds as though you have a failed download. You can try and redownload the components once again, if possible. Other than that your facing the uninstall and delete the Ulead System folders, and reinstall once again.
Sorry I can’t be of a more cheerful help!

smart download
If you bought your software online, some Download Edition components are available separately in order to make the download process as streamlined as possible. These can be downloaded later at your convenience depending on which ones you need.
However, Ulead's smart download feature doesn't work properly at the moment. It tells you files are being downloaded or download is 100% when they are really not. Good thing is that you can download the components manually.

Goodness!
Yes, I bought Photoimpact online. For that I had to download 4 different components. And now I find out, thanks to a user forum, that I need to download 12 more components, and each one separately of course!
I really wonder if it would have been possible for Ulead to make things any more complicated. Why on earth don't the make a self extracting package containing all those files?
But thanks guys, I'll try this download and hope I can make that Component Designer to work (it was the main reason why I bought the soft in the first place - to be able to enchance videos).

Maukka... well its because for most people, specially those with slow internet connections, it's more convenient for them to be able to choose what to download for now and continue with the other files later. Anyway downloading the separate files is really no problems specially if you have download managers that can put the remaining files on que for automatic downloading when one file has finished.
