As I understand it, there are only three Bluray regions: A/1, B/2 and C/3. I have a Sony VAIO laptop with Windows 7 and I use WinDVD 2010 Pro, Version 10.0.5.819. I am having difficult playing at least one Bluray title. I can play "Stargate - Extended Cut" but not "King Arthur - Director's Cut", both of which I'm fairly certain are coded for the same region, A/1. In fact, I called Disney to confirm that there was no problem with the "King Arthur" disc, and that it was Region 1 format.
When I go to the Setup/Region menu in WinDVD, with or without a disc in the drive, all selections are grayed out and there is no option to change the region. In Windows Control Panel, Device Manager indicates that my player is set to Region 1 and that I have 4 changes remaining, so there must be a problem with the software. At one point, I could not play any Bluray discs at all until I installed an AACS Key Code patch, and I think the last software update I installed was Patch6 in April 2011.
Is there any possibility that the latest Service Pack, which I think is "Patch8", would solve the problem? Or is there some other possibility I haven't thought of?
Any suggestions welcome.
WinDVD 2010 only plays 1 of 2 Blurays from same region
