PSP X5 Layer problems

Post by loopync »

Hi

I'm new to the forum but have been using PSP since version 7. I recently upgraded to 15 from 11 (then of course they came out with 16 about a week later..lol). In 15 I have a problem with the layer pallet. I use it docked all the time and right click for options to arrange the layers or merge them or whatever, however, I notice the option to arrange the layers is no longer on the right click menu. This means I have to go up to the top layers menu and do it from there or move them manually with the mouse. That's not a real big deal except that when I record a script, the script doesn't play properly anymore without the right click arrange layers. It doesn't record properly moving it with the mouse or using the top menu. Are you thoroughly confused yet?
Any help or info would be appreciated. Can't find anything anywhere about this.

Thank you
Loopy

Those commands inside the context menu are the same ones that are inside the Layers menu.

You can customize the layer palette menu to include these arrange layers commands. See those instructions below. But because they are the exact same commands I have a hard time believing that the arrange commands record differently from the main Layers menu than they would from the layers pallet.

Could you perchance upload one of your scripts so that we can see what it does, and give us a description of what it's supposed to do?

To add those commands back into the layer palette menu:

On the top menu select View - > Customize

Click on the "Menu" tab in the customize dialog.

On the right-hand side you'll see a section for "context menus"

From the drop down list select "Layers Palette" and you will see the layers palette context menu pop up in a small window.

Next click on the "Layers" menu on the main menu bar to bring down the full layers menu.

Hold the "Ctrl" key and Click and drag the "Arrange" menu from the Layers menu to the Layers Palette context menu. And drop it into place. Once it's in place you can go ahead and close the customize dialog.

Go to "File" -> Workspace -> Save Workspace. To save the current customization.

Thank you so much. I will upload the script when I get home from work. I didn't realize I could customize the right click menu so I really appreciate that help. FYI - when I try to run the script when it gets to the first 'arrange' command I get an error message saying the arrange command can't be completed.

Thanks again.
