PSP X5 purple fringe fix

Post by mfeveland »

I've tried using the one step purple fringe fix and it doesn't work. I've also tried removing the fringe with chromatic aberration adjustment and although it will remove small sections I can't seem to apply it to the entire image. Any suggestions ?

A lot depends on how bad the chromatic aberration (CA) is in your original image. It would be best if you posted one of your problem images.

Given this sample found on the Web:

The One-Step Purple Fringe Fix is a mild correction that's most obvious around the bird's beak:

The Chromatic Aberration Removal works well. The key is to set multiple colours to target, as well as a large enough range. This result is with a simple, generic two colour target:

These samples were done using PSPX6. I don't think the correction tools were enhanced from what X5 has.

Thanks for the response. By working with the range, and multiple samples, I was able to reduce the fringe to a very acceptable amount. Their one-step-tool needs a lot of improvement, but, by using the CA adjustment at least I'll be able to remove most, if not all of the fringe. Thanks again.
