MF4 dual layer burn crashes every time

Post by ruggy1 »

I am a long time user of MF and until now MF4 has performed flawlessly. My first try to do a DL burn with MF4, whether I try to burn to ISO or Sony DR700 DL DVD burner, it crashes every time with abnormal termination errors as soon as I hit the 'burn' button. I believe that I am up-to-date with patches. The compressed video size is only 6.9GB. Anyone give me a hint as to what is going on?
Thanks

To be more precise the error (crash) is "Runtime Error, This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way - Please contact Application Support"! After a lot of experimentation I have discovered it is either due to the bit level set too high (9000) with quality set to 100%, or manually specifying 2.4x as the burning speed rather than let it default to "Maximum". Either way I cannot experiment any further as I have work to do. I got to at least start transcoding by setting the bitrate to 7000 and the DVD speed to Maximum. I hold my fingers crossed to see what happens 4 hours from now!

OK, it burned to DL disk (verbatim 2.4x) in one go after rendering for 4 hours. But the movie could only be played on my computer, both of my newish DVD players could not play the result - disk error - they both said! There are several problems here, does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

More experimentation took DL disks and write speed out of the picture. Sorry for the posts, I will post another one for the real issue.
