X5 Resize issue....
I was asked to scan some old slides, which I did at 4800 dpi with the dimensions of the original slide on an Epson V500. When I resize in PSP it allows me to reset the dpi, but the dimension maxes at around 4". Basically in PS CS5 I would take the image as scanned, resize to 92 dpi and 10" on the longest side. This is mainly for email and posting on forums etc. This works in PS CS5, yet does not in PSP. Looking at the resize windows in both programs, aspect, bicubic etc are the same, but no matter what I choose, PSP turns the size option red, then reverts to around 4" max.

Re: X5 Resize issue....
X5 has a maximum size of 20,000 pixels on each side. What is the pixel size of the image?
At 4800dpi the maximum you can get is 4 inches. So if you set the DPI to 92 - you should get 217 inches.
Change the DPI before you change the print size.

Ok, if I adjust resolution to 92 and save, the image stays the same L/W, but pixelated. If I change the resolution to 92 and not save and then change the width I am still limited to 4.166" max. In PS CS5 I can adjust resolution and L/W to whatever I want and hit save and all is good.LeviFiction wrote:X5 has a maximum size of 20,000 pixels on each side. What is the pixel size of the image?

The only way to get it to work is set the resolution to let's say 600, then the width to the max it will let me of 4.166". save then resize again setting my resolution to 92 then my width to 10". This takes an additional step over PS.....Seems kinda ridiculous since PS has been able to do this forever.

You have me really confused as to what you are doing. To get a pixelated image suggests that you must be resampling when you change the resolution.
You have stated that :
You did not state the dimensions of the slides , but gave information about the scanner which was irrelevant.
If I assume that the slides are standard 35 mm film slides then they will be 24 mm x 36 mm which at 4800 dpi should give an image of approx 4535 x 6803 pixels ( converting 4800 dots/pixels per inch to dots per mm gave a conversion factor of 188.9xxxx dots/pixels per mm).
So you are resizing these images to post on a forum where say the pixel width needs to be about 800 . In this case in the X5 resize box ignore the top section which refers to print size and just use the section labelled pixel dimensions. In the righ hand box make sure it says Pixels and not Percent. Then look at the original Width and Height values and set the longest one to 800 pixels in the corresponding New box and click OK.
That will bring the image down to an 800 x 533 (landscape) or 533 x 800 (portrait) image suitable for emailing or submitting on a forum page.
Or am I missing something?

In this case the resolution does not matter so stop worrying about it. It is the pixel dimensions you should be concerned with. This is mainly for email and posting on forums etc.

Re: X5 Resize issue....
If you have Maintain Original Print Size checked then uncheck that. Otherwise you should be able to set it to 10 inches on the long side at 92 dpi and come up with an image that's roughly 920 pixels on the long side. If that's not what you're getting then tell us all of the settings in the resize dialog, even the seemingly irrelevant ones (a screenshot would work). You may have a bug in PSP, it shouldn't be this hard.
Side note, the max dpi that X5 lets me set too for resizing is 2540 dpi.
