Broken link in Discovery Center : Photo

Post by Samoreen »

Hi

When you click on the EBooks link in the Discovery center : Photo window (Help | Video Tutorials), you get either a cryptic error message or an unformated page in Internet Explorer.

Moreover, whatever your default browser might be, PSP X6 calls Internet Explorer. If you copy and paste the above mentioned link in another browser, the behavior is different : the Corel server tells you that the page doesn't exist.

Ditto for the Picture Perfect app lik.

FWIW, I just did the same as Brian, using Chrome, and had no problems at all.

No problems here on those links with PSP X6, XP Home and internet explorer 8.

I had a problem the other day where i could not access a website with any browser . Could access other sites but this one was unavailable both normally and using ftp program. Asked someone else to check if site was down and they had no problems.
Turned out it was a problem with my DNS server, A change of primary server to 8.8.8.8 and secondary to 8.8.4.4 on my router solved the problem. This could be a similar problem to what you are experiencing.
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867

Thanks to all for the feedback.

However, I still have the problem. Using PSP X6 64-bit, when clicking Help | Video Tutorials and then either EBooks or PictureEffects app, I have the problem described above. When clicking on New! Tutorials, I'm staying in the Discovery Center and everything goes well.

If I click on the two links provided above by BrianCee, I get a "Page not found" message from the Corel server. So it's not a DNS problem but the URL is not recognized by the Corel server. Flushing the DNS cache didn't help. I tried with Firefox and Chrome.

I also tried to specify Chrome as the default browser instead of Firefox but PSP is still calling Internet Explorer.

Very strange.

Or should I be using a registered version of PSP X6 and be connected (signed in) in order to access these pages (I'm using a trial version) ?

Please note that I don't have the problem when opening the Discovery Center directly in a browser. The problem appears only when using the Help | Video Tutorials command in PSP Pro X6.

Just did that as well with my 64 bit X6 and it worked fine (again). Mind you, I registered my 32 bit/64bit package when it was installed. And I suspect registration is required before you can access anything like that. At least, that is required in Video Studio in order to access the equivalent which is called Corel Guide in VS...

This is what I thought but since I can access these pages directly when starting from the Discovery Center when loaded in a browser instead of starting from the Help | Video Tutorials command in PSP, I guess that registration is not needed. Or maybe it's a bug.

No problems with the links provided by Brian. Works on IE and Firefox You seem to have a problem in your system if PSP calls IE when Firefox is your default browser.
