V 1.2.07 Sony A99 camera/lens profile.

Post by gregglee »

I discovered that for Sony A99 the lens correction choice offers only three e-mount lens - which don't even fit the camera. Upon investigating I found the cause.

In Windows 7-64, C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel AfterShot Pro\supportfiles\Profiles\LensProfiles\profile_sony.txt

The A99 and the A37 and A58, all of which are a-mount, are listed as group sonyemount. e mount applies only to NEX series cameras.

In addition Sony A99 listing has multiplier as 1.5 when it should be 1.0.

A99 as listed

begin camera
group: sonyemount
multiplier: 1.5
menu_make: Sony
menu_model: a99V
exif_make: SONY
exif_model: a99V
end

I imagine it should be the same as the A900, other than model number:

begin camera
group: minoltaSLR
group: genericSLR
multiplier: 1.0
menu_make: Sony
menu_model: a900
exif_make: Sony
exif_model: a900
end

If someone would verify that it should look like A900, I will go ahead and edit my copy, pending release of bug-fix or patch.

So I gave it a try anyway. I made the A99 profile look like the A900 profile except with "a99" replacing "a900."

But strangely I had to do it in stages.
1. add group: minoltaSLR and group: genericSL to A99 profile
Restart ASP which displayed all the a mount lenses plus the e-mounts

2. close ASP and remove group: sonyemount from A99 profile
restart ASP which now shows only a-mount.

3. close ASP and change multiplier to 1.0.
restart ASP no change from previous step.
(The multiplier may not matter. In lens profiles it is inconsistent, with multiplier 1.0 vs. 1.5 not always matching FF vs crop frame lens. )

If I did the full edit in one step, then ASP would show two a99V choices under camera menu. One displayed a-mount lenses only, and the other displayed the numerical lens id of the lens used for the image, with no other choices. Unfortunately this one was the default choice.

So there is some more info storage somewhere to work around by doing it in steps. I haven't found it. Probably in a file or a registry entry that is not in text format.

Anyway fixed for now. I can always put the old one back if there is a problem.
