Re: Unable to install PSPX6 Ultimate

Post by SigmaChrome »

The Saga continues ... however, there may be light at the end of the tunnel.

I tried installing my Purchased version of PSP X6 on 2 PCs at work - one Windows 7, 32bit and the other Windows XP, 32bit. The same result was achieved on both. The installer has now been tried on FOUR different machines - 2, 64bit and 2, 32bit!

I just downloaded and installed PSP X6 - Trial version to my work machine and installed it without any problems. So... this raises the question: Why can't I download the trial version on my home PC, install it and then get Corel to register it. And, if this is possible, why the blazes did Corel support not suggest it in the first place?

After using PaintShop Pro for 20 years I think I deserve better than this.

Cheers,

So copy that downloaded version to a USB drive and take it home and see if that will install on your home computer . If it does then in suggests that somehow your home computer download was corrupted. If it does not then it suggests that there is something wrong with your home PC with some conflict there. I hope it is the former and that your purchased download was just a bad copy.

Hi

You may be best downloading the purchased version, I assume the link is still available, you seem to indicate to downloading the trial.

Comparing the file sizes of the problem file to the working file may indicate a download issue?

If you are having download problems in future maybe consider purchasing the Boxed version?

And yes I to hope you are able to install on your home pc.

Good luck

I downloaded the trial. Then purchased after a few days and applied the code to the trial to convert to a purchased version. If he has a correctly installing version then use that. If he redownloads the purchased version he may be back at the beginning again.

I finally did manage to install the trial version and register it.

I cannot download 'The Ultimate Creative Collection' or the other applications that I should be able to register. I get a message that says : 'You don't have access to this download.'

Hopefully support can help me with this.

Thank you all for your suggestions.

Cheers,

Hi harpaul,

Yes, I did download the Ultimate edition and received links to allow me to download and register the Ultimate Collection extras. These are the links that don't work.

You mentioned above that you were finally able to download and install to your work machine. Try testing if you can download your Ultimate Creative Collection to your work computer. If this works it may indicate that some problem exists with downloading at your home computer. You may also be able to copy the UCC to a flashdrive and take home and install there.

Everything seems to be working now - except for my NIK Filters Collection (64bit) which crash PSP X6 Ultimate. This is pretty frustrating as this was the main reason for upgrading. But it's early days... hopefully there is a solution for this too.

Thanks All,

Cheers,

The email said: Exclusive pre-launch offer for you only, NEW Paintshop Pro X6 Ultimate, Be the First! Exclusive early access. Ends 3, Sept 2013 at midnight.

The 64 bit version took on the changes I made in the 32 bit version which I opened first. (no splash screen, opened in Edit mode, Learning center hidden, and no Organizer.) It showed as 16.0.0.113x64

I did notice in the 64 bit version around the workspace a small gap as if the workspace did not fill the allotted area and so you could see through the gap to the Desktop icons behind. Looks like a first bug that need to be corrected (have seen it mentioned before) early.
Hello hp, I used to get promo emails like that, but they've stopped, and an attempt to reinstating them 6 months ago resulted in nothing.

The above looks like the first mention of a "Gap" around the workspace. My system is Win 7 Pro 32-bit with integrated, shared memory graphics card.. and is "old technology" compared to today's machines. So it's happening on both 32 and 64-bit platforms apparently. Does it happen on Win 8?

The gap is nuisance and a distraction. It's happening a lot now in X7U-32. Will have to try and work around the Gap and the Image shadow issues. But come-on, how can they put out stuff like that, and not fix it across two major product releases unless there's a purposeful reason?

I have a Support code and will run these issues by Corel next week (Monday) but am not too optimistic.

I just opened the 32 bit versions and the 64 bit versions of X6 and X7 on a Win 8 machine and no cracks.
Same with the 32 bit versions on Xp system and again no cracks
I cannot remember seeing them for some time.
Here is my theory: they are a psychological effect that prey upon those disturbed by them. The more you find them a nuisance the more they appear. Ignore them and they go away!!! :P

The more you expect perfection the more you find faults.

I just started using X7 a couple of weeks ago, moving from Jasc's PSP9. I was getting that "crack" around the workspace window quite frequently - until a few days ago. I have been using the program even more the past 2 or 3 days and that issue has no longer re-appeared. There was some talk that a fix for the issue was to toggle between tabbed and non-tabbed windows, and some people created a button to be able to toggle when the issue appeared. The only thing I can theorize that might have stopped the issue for me is that, during that discussion, I did a lot of toggling as suggested just to see if the button toggled properly (which it did). So perhaps spending a couple of minutes just toggling back and forth (whether or not you see the crack) might simply straighten out the program's intermittent and finicky behavior in that regard.

As to the "shadow" issue, that has also been recently discussed and, it appears, it's a feature, not a bug. You can see the discussion here:
