Unable to install PSPX6 Ultimate
Hi - First time poster - Long time user.
I purchased this product (the upgrade version) a few days ago and have not been able to installed it. The InstallAware application crashes very early in the process. I have contacted support and was advised to send them screen-shots of the error message and a text file containing a total PC audit. I did both. I was then advised to do a Clean Windows boot and then 're-download' the installer and run it. I did this also. Still no joy. Today I was told asked the following: "Have you tried using Microsoft Installer instead of InstallAware? Newer Corel programs were not tested on the compatibility of third party installers." I have no idea of how to do this - and said so.
Correction: I may have called the native PSP installer, 'InstallAware', however this is probably incorrect. The installer is the one that comes with PSP X6.
Some System information:
System: Core i7
OS: Windows 7 Pro, 64bit
Video Card: Nvidia GeForce GTS 450
RAM: 32 GB
I have the following versions of PSP installed: PSP X, PSP X2, X3, X4 Ultimate and X5 Ultimate.
I was never able to install any X5 Service Pack.
I have been using PaintShop Pro since the early 1990s and needless to say, I am very frustrated at the moment.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Re: Unable to install PSPX6 Ultimate
Does anyone know if having earlier versions of PSP installed can cause PSP X6 installation issues?

Re: Unable to install PSPX6 Ultimate
I have prior versions installed...and cannot install X6, but do not know if having prior versions installed has anything to do with the problem. For me, I get the EULA license screen and click the accept checkbox and then click NEXT and absolutely nothing happens. I saw a post from another person with this problem elsewhere and they re-installed .net to fix their installation. I tried that, but still get the same problem. I do have a support ticket open on it.

Re: Unable to install PSPX6 Ultimate
I don't have an answer but I can tell you that many of us have multiple versions of PSP installed alongside X6 so I don't believe that is causing your installation issue.
PSPX9 | PSP2020 | PSP2021| PSP2022 | PSP2023 & PhotoMirage installed; PSPX | PSPX2 thru PSP2019 owned but not installed

Thanks, itjost. It's kinda good to know I'm not alone.ltjost wrote:I have prior versions installed...and cannot install X6, but do not know if having prior versions installed has anything to do with the problem. The latest advice I've got from 'support' (if that's what they really are) is that the file size is incorrect. This is rubbish. I have checked it against what they say it should be, and it's fine.
This has been going on for more than a week now... and I'm wondering if Corel is simply has not done enough testing. I think they need to release another fully tested installer.

I have PSP8, X2, X3, X4, X5, and just installed X6 trial on an XP Home and Windows 7 computer (both computers are fully updated) and have had no problems in installation or running the program. Have found a couple of the repeatable bugs that others have mentioned.
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867

Re: Unable to install PSPX6 Ultimate
In reference to the file being the wrong size...I tried downloading the trial version and installing it...no luck...same thing...click NEXT on the EULA and nothing happens. I also tried creating a new admin user and installing from that user in case it was a profile issue...same thing.

Re: Unable to install PSPX6 Ultimate
Hi Guys
I thought I would try installing the trial version, I notice “Hartpaul” was successful in installing PSP, all others are using Windows 7, don’t know if that is an issue.
However I am unable to download PSP X6, all that is available is PSP X5 which seems rather strange.
Given that some have questioned the file size I wondered if you have downloaded the correct version?
Strange that I cannot find PSPX6 on the Corel site?

Re: Unable to install PSPX6 Ultimate
I received the offer in an email because I was an existing owner of PSP X5 (and X4, X3 etc) .
The emal said:
[Exclusive pre-launch offer for you only] NEW Paintshop Pro X6 Ultimate
Inside it said "Be the First! Exclusive early access . Ends 3, Sept 2013 at midnight.
It had a special link which I gather from all the complaints is not shown in publicity on the website , but I am guessing will be there after 4 th Sept.
The version I downloaded and installed was labelled PSPX6_TBY30.exe and was 243232 KB in size.
I installed it without any problems or hangs on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit operating system and have installed both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions.
The 32 bit version shows as 16.0.0.113 . It opens in Manage mode and I go straight to Edit mode (which is Tabbed Documents by defaultand which I turn off) and close the Organiser . Have not bothered to use it as I prefer my own methods of organising files.
The 64 bit version took on the changes I made in the 32 bit version which I opened first. (no splash screen, opened in Edit mode, Learning centre hidden, and no Organiser.) It showed as 16.0.0.113x64
I did notice in the 64 bit version around the workspace a small gap as if the workspace did not fill the alotted area and so you could see through the gap to the Desktop icons behind. Looks like a ffirst bug that need to be corrected (have seen it mentioned before) early.

Re: Unable to install PSPX6 Ultimate
Thanks for posting this. I'll seek some further advice on this recommendation. My installation program crashes way before it gets to the EULA - and I don't know what effect removing the Windows update will have on my system. I'm also concerned that the installer behaved the same way on my Windows 8 machine.ltjost wrote:I was provided this from support today and it worked for me...great job by the support team on a Sunday night!

Re: Unable to install PSPX6 Ultimate
After the Installer crashes, take a look in the Windows' Event Logs (either the Application log or the System log) to see if there's some useable information about it.
