Organising clips in an X5 subfolder

Post by Ken Veal »

After using multi trim and the trimmed clips are now back in the sub library, I want to mark where they are so that I can easily locate them.I have tried to drag a colour clip from the timeline but this is not being allowed. Can any one suggest another way
of solving this issue

I don't understand what you want to do.
What do you want to mark so that you know where they are?

I have numerous clips in the named sub library, some of these are not in the order I want them in the finished timeline. After multi trimming a clip from the time line I then drag all the trimmed clips taken from the original untrimmed clip back to the library so that I can the select and organise them as required -that is drag each trimmed clip back to where I want them in the timeline. They are not necessarily following on from each other or close to each other in the timeline .I want to segregate these multi trimmed clips into groups so as to be able to recognise quickly when looking at the library, this is where a marker or whatever would make things easier.Hope I have made this understandable

why not just rename the thumbnails in the library - I know there is not much length there but you could use something like Gr1-A, Gr1-B, Gr1-C ------ Gr2-A, Gr2-B, Gr2-C ----- Gr3-A, Gr3-B, Gr3-C ----- and so on, then if you used the 'rearrange alphabetically" option they would re-arrange in groups.

to rename thumbnails - click on the thumbnail - then click on the text under it - name goes into edit mode - edit - click anywhere else in the library to get out of edit.

Alternatively rename the clips in the windows folder in a similar manner before you import them to the library - then they'll import with the new name.

Yes I see what you mean and this is where a coloured tick/check or a star rating system on the thumbnail would be helpful. I urge you add this to "Wishlist for Version X7" as others have.
I work for a Software company and our PM is always reviewing the "Suggestions Page" and the more something is mentioned the more they consider it.

I have got round not being able to import a colour clip into the library by importing a blank jpeg image,(with text on it if need be.)Then repositioning it in the library
