Re: Paint Shop Pro Wishlist for version X7
The Object Remover tool is similar to the patch tool in photoshop. Draw a freehand section around say a skin blemish. In photoshop you drag away from the selected area to a similar clear area and the clear area replaces the blemish. Like a 100% clone from the clear area to the blemished area with blending edges.
In Paintshop pro you freehand draw the area same as photoshop. Then you click on the square (tool options area) which produces a square on the image to allow you to select your clear area, but the square is often huge by comparison. If possible I would like that square to be proportional to the area chosen without having to zoom back out find the square drag its down in size and then zoom back in and place the square in the correct position. Or even not a square , but same size and shape as the area chosen, but with drag out options to be able to make it larger.

I second that request for a smaller initial size for the Object Remover's source rectangle.

Re: Paint Shop Pro Wishlist for version X7
I request drawing out the rectangle instead of a default. Many times I'm zoomed into an area to perform my selection. To then have to move to the center of the screen to move and resize the rectangle is just a pain.
If I could just draw in the rectangle, I could make it as large or small as I need where I need with limited movement.

Re: Paint Shop Pro Wishlist for version X7
I would love to see the gradient function like Photoshop. That would be just brilliant.
In PS the gradient is dragged across the canvas anywhere and can be done multiple times to produce abstract imagery. Change colour, apply a blend and a great image is created.
I still state that the nodes are far too small. In PhotoImpact we had the ability to choose larger nodes and that's what PSP should have.

Re: Paint Shop Pro Wishlist for version X7
Here is my wishlist, for the time being (I am sure I will think of more):
- text wrapping. This has been a missing feature forever. This would allow to fit text inside a specific shape.
- the option to display all the icons with one button (that was in older versions, not sure why it was removed)
- a way to "extract" the settings from an adjustment layer and apply it to other similar layers
- picture tubes that are directional AND sequential at the same time
- a way to drag and drop from the tray to a specific place instead of the top layer (this can be inconvenient when one has 50 layers in a project)
- the ability to choose our own icons for binding scripts. For a graphic program, this should be obvious.
- better "distortion" tools specifically a way to reshape something (like with the Pick tool) without getting an automatic perspective. But also a way to possibly fit something inside another shape (like from circle to square, or vice versa)
- more flexibility to manipulate gradients.
- a MUCH better Carver tool, that would FILL instead of distorting. A simple program like In-paint can do it, but I hate to have to use another program to do something I would assume PSP should be able to do.
- a tolerance setting in the new Selection brush
- a more convenient sorting/tagging facility
I am not very demanding, am I?

I would have to support Cassell in her reference to InPaint. Just downloaded and tested a trial version and it dows do better than the Smart Carver from PSP X4 at least.

Re: Paint Shop Pro Wishlist for version X7
The text tool has not improved at all, despite what the hype says. I find it a pain to use.
When using Ctrl+A to highlight the text to change it, you get a selection instead, so need to drag across the text to highlight it
I use Xara Photo & Graphic Designer 9 for text wrapping.
In Xara you can highlight text, copy and then paste attributes to other text. Very handy.
Their text tool is superb.
Nowadays I don't use the PSP text tool as much as I used to before the 'improvements'.
I requested a Tolerance setting to be added to the new Selection Brushes, am waiting to see if it happens.
I can't see anything much happening to the Gradients Editor anytime soon, but it would be nice if that was improved.
We can all dream (and wish).

Re: Paint Shop Pro Wishlist for version X7
Cassel & hartpaul,
You're missing the point of the Smart Carver. Its purpose is to remove an object and change the composition of the image. In other words, instead of having the removed area as an "unused space" in the middle of the image, that entire area is also removed.
A Content-aware Fill tool would do what you're asking for (and is what InPaint does), and would certainly be a worthwhile addition to PSP.

Re: Paint Shop Pro Wishlist for version X7
I will add to my previous wish list:
- get the option to have either the text box or the text on the project BY DEFAULT. I know I can hold the Shift key to get the Text entry box, but I would like to set it to always open. One current inconvenience with the text on the project is that if I double click on the text "object", I get the cursor and nothing is selected, so if I want to change the font, the size or the color, I need to select all the text, which might be difficult if the text went over the edge or is small, etc. The old Text entry box would automatically select the whole text. Saves me a few clicks.
- have a way to Accept a change without going all the way up to the checkmark. With tools like the Text, the Warp brush, the Warp mesh, and such, having a way to accept maybe with some right-click or something that could be added on a floating toolbar (through customization), would save time. Or like the new Crop tool that has a button right where one works.
- a better way to save swatches. Maybe something to save a palette of certain colors, as a group, instead of all individual swatches.
I know I had other ideas today, but I forgot to write them down. I'll be back!

Cassel, if you double click on a portion of canvas above or below the text will accept the change to the text. No need to go all the way to the checkmark.
I'm surprised to hear Joelle has issues with Ctrl + A for selecting all of the text. I can use Ctrl + A to select all of the text, no problem. But I can also do a quick triple click to select all of the text if I wanted to go that route. Double click will select only a single word.

It's an on-and-off thing, sometimes it works as it should, sometimes it doesn't.
I have been very carefully studying when it doesn't work, but can't see that I have done something different.
This is likely just me, but I preferred the old text box!

Re: Paint Shop Pro Wishlist for version X7
The function HDR / Single RAW photo should use the RAW import function to be able to reduce noise etc.
I had a noisy night shot I could not use like that. I had to produce three TIFFs in ASP and use them with the HDR / Exposure merge function of PSP

A save as *.icon or *.ico so that PSP images can be used as shortcut Icons or application icons with Windows Desktops and menus etc.
Allowing text to be created in 3 dimensions:
Perhaps an illusion of 3D text could be a merge between Text creation and the Perspective Correction Tool.
Perhaps the ability to create text that would fit inside of a Polygon, made of wavey lines.
The idea is to be able to wrap text on 3D objects. Like writing on a wall that is viewed from the side, so that the size of the letters changes with the perceived size of the wall.
A tool that allowed for the insertion of a layer or object within the polygon, so that its size would change relative to the shape of the polygon. Remember putting silly putty on comic books and making the superheroes stretch!
