Paintshop Pro - Wishlist for version X7

Re: Paintshop Pro - Wishlist for version X7
1. Panorama tools - some inspiration/reference: ( http://www.kolor.com/panorama-software- ... o-pro.html probably best panorama tool at the moment...)
2. Raw editing improvements (there has been already mentioned many good ideas in this thread)
3. Save and edit "Virtual texturing" / "MegaTexture" - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MegaTexture
4. Simple animation tools with timeline (like Photoshop has) - or / also big animation tools would be welcome (Yup... I remember, this is photoediting software, not animation software, but so is PS) but it would be nice to have better animation tools integrated in Paint Shop Pro - maybe something like Anime Studio http://anime.smithmicro.com/ or ToonBoom Studio https://www.toonboom.com/products/toon-boom-studio ... Ok, if I am realistic - I would love to see some skeleton and puppet tools with timeline editing. But this is the last important feature wish on my list.

Free from Microsoft ICE (Image Composite Editor).
http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/um/ ... s/ivm/ICE/
I feed it NIKON RAW NEF files and it works.

You might be, but most PSP users don't have a technical background.tomkinsrichard wrote:As a Technical Writer, I am well aware of what goes into a manual.
As a Technical User, I am well aware of what a manual gives me.
Regarding price, I have upgraded almost every time from PSP 9 on, and I also have PE 7, 10-12. I generally wait for the upgrade price to be around $60 and sometimes when I see it on sale for $30 I'll buy an extra copy, since between work and home I have something like 6 drives bootable with various editions of Windows. My usual "guidelines" for purchases that don't involve necessary replacements are I won't think twice about a $20 purchase, depending on various circumstances I may make a $30 purchase, and I try to limit other purchases (e.g., second external backup drive) to $100.
I definitely would not purchase at a $120 price point or even $100, and I think many PSP users would do the same. Yes there are high-end versions of all sorts of products -- but they remain niche products. Apple's market share for computers has never come close to 10%. Corel bought JASC specifically to have a product in the budget price range to compete with PE.

I am wondering, am I the only person in this thread to already have already purchased a copy of Corel Paintshop Pro X7?

Re: Paintshop Pro - Wishlist for version X7
Hi Pamela
Well no, but the PSP X7 has not been officially released as yet, although Corel have announced a Pre Launch Offer for existing users.
That is causing some confusion, if you visit the main PSP forum (http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewforum.php?f=56)
you may get a little more info.
If you visit Corel.com there is no reference to PSP X7 only X6, as I say most people are confused.

Re: Paintshop Pro - Wishlist for version X7
Maybe you can better explain exactly what is new and different about X7. And even better, what was implemented from the last version's wish list. Right now, it looks like a joke! I love PSP but this release just seems like a shameless money grab with nothing of actual interest. I mean, seriously?
* Faster Brushes??? THAT is the big bottleneck people are having??? And 30% is going to make a significant difference?? What the heck?
* Magic Fill - How is this different from Object Remover? Or Smart Carver?
* Same Ultimate features exactly...same versions even. Zero benefit there for X6 owners.
* Text & Shape cutting - Um, how is this different from simply making a selection, pasting as new layer?
Surely a lot more work has been done than this. Even if it didn't get past the Marketing folks, it would be very helpful for those considering an upgrade.

Re: Paintshop Pro - Wishlist for version X7
I fail to see any of the items in the PaintShop Pro X7 wishlist in the current offering of PaintShop Pro X7.
Corel, you do yourself and your customer base a total disservice by not listening at all.
The floating off from you for X7 has varied in price from $59.95 to $79.95 on every exit of X6. You know, what, if you had the main points in there, I'd consider purchasing the upgrade. There is no focus stacking and there is no improvement to making composite images.
What is there to upgrade to. You know what, just around Christmas time, you'll be offering an upgrade for $29.95 with free shipping and at that time, I'll think about it.

Re: Paintshop Pro - Wishlist for version X7
It's just too expensive, 70 euros to upgrade to X7 Ultimate edition.
For 120 euros i can buy a year Adobe CC photography version which includes Photoshop CC and Lightroom for pc, mobile and web.

If you tried latest CorelDraw - there it is. But its use is somethimes very problematic at edges of image.photodrawken wrote:A real gradient tool, allowing direct drawing of the gradient in the Edit workspace.

Re: Paint Shop Pro Wishlist for version X7
We have two mode of create/edit text, have you noticed?DPainter wrote: TEXT Tool
Another tool I use constantly. The older method to have the small window open and the text to be viewed on the work space but edited in this small window is the more superior method over the new idea over having to edit the text over you work and have it blanking out your work below with that shadowing beneath it, making it far hard to determine color, size and font type needed is make far easier when this editing is done in a small window that is "not" apart of, or over the work space being viewed. All so with text tool. When choosing or viewing different font the new idea is for this to change the work space automatically. This is very annoying when a possible font is chosen just to have it change all the time. With that shadowing under the font in the work space, this makes choosing to correct font far more difficult to see if the font is the one your looking for or is at least close.
Again a update that to me is a backwards step. I'd really like to see this tool returned to the older but better and easier method both to view and to edit fonts. Either method made as a option would work.
The idea that is now being used in PSP is similar to Photoshop. The main and very much a large difference in this tool is the ability to alter the text, Twist. Stretch, warp for banner work and the like. PSP hasn't got this ability so has no need to follow the Photoshop idea of text tool. If or when this ability is available in PSP then I would ask if the older window method still be a option that can be chosen or not.

Re: Paint Shop Pro Wishlist for version X7
Excelent notes. Bravo.Mystral77 wrote:Here are my wishes for X7 :I use PaintShopPro for my business every day, thank you for your work
- showing the position coordinates (from the upper left corner of the workspace), the width and the height of the selected object width the “Object selection tool”
- possibility to change the size of an object by entering the height and width numeric values
possibility to exactly put the selected object on the workspace by entering numeric values- When I use « Bezier curve » (for example, but still the same problem with rectangle tool, text tool, etc.), I can put a point or a node of a control arm out of the image on the workspace, if I must zoom in to work with precision, no way to slide the workspace to select the point or control arm node outside of the image.
- Possibility to snap objects to each other.
- Sometimes, if I invert a raster selection, the part of the selection marquee can be out of the image. At this moment, no way to remove it. It can disturb an effect.
- When I modify a selection by adding or removing part with the freehand tool selection for example, while tracing on a zoomed image, if the cursor goes out of the workspace the image is moving but the existent marquee is not redrawn : no way to see where was the existing selection.
- possibility to show the maximum width and height of a drawn selection
- Improve the effectiveness of tools for drawing and editing (gum, brush, editing tools such as drawing, smudging etc..) using a large brush. On a rather powerful machine (Core I7 Xtrem / 12G Ram / NVidia GTX285 + GT520 / Windows 8 Pro / 3 monitors) it is unusable, a brush stroke size of 700 with a rigidity of 50 takes a lot of time, usually we only see a quarter of line and the rest is calculated once the mouse button is released. Unusable with a tablet too.
- It would be interesting to create a gradient that follows a bezier curve and not only a straight line step. (I do not know if this functionality exists by your competitors).
- When viewing the right pane of the Layer palette, when a layer blend mode is different than "normal" it would be nice if the word or the background color was different.
- With the text tool, it’s always impossible to modify easily the leading, tracking and Kerning value with the keyboard. While writing the new value, for example “-0,05” the software tries to render the new value, and shows errors. The software should wait more time or wait until pressing the enter key to render the entered value.
- If the option "Auto-Preserve” is disabled, we should have a choice in the File menu "Save with preservation ".
- It would be nice if the “open” state of grouped layers was saved. I sometimes have up to 80 layers and groupes on an image I have to spend lot of time to open or close layers to work on the part that interests me.
- Make the swatches window more efficient, it would be nice to show a list with thumbnail and names and to save/load some swatches template
- For each new main version, it should be nice to have the possibility to import former Workspaces Layers from previous version.
Sorry for my bad english.
Olivier.

Re: Paint Shop Pro Wishlist for version X7
You can hide/dissable it at all.LEHampton wrote:Wish: Allow the Paint Shop Pro splash screen to go to the background immediately when you activate another open window.
It is very annoying to me that the PSP splash screen stays as the top-most image in the very middle of my screen while PSP X6 starts. I can't move the splash screen to the side; I can't minimize it; nothing. It almost seems rude to me. (Yes, I know I can turn off the splash screen, which I've done, but sometimes, not always, I like to know what PSP X6 is doing as it starts.)
I have dual monitors connected to my laptop most of the time. When I invoke PSP X6 it opens (eventually) in monitor #2, but the splash screen appears immediately in the middle of my primary monitor blocking all the open windows. I can activate those other windows/applications and move them about, but the splash screen is always on top and blocks whatever is behind it. The splash screen stays there until PSP X6 opens (finally) in the other monitor.
When I use my laptop without another monitor attached the splash screen is even worse because I have no other monitor to use. The splash screen consumes a lot of space right in the very middle of my laptop screen. It is impossible to do other work while I wait for PSP X6 to open.
As an example of an application that behaves better consider Microsoft Outlook 2010. When I open Microsoft Outlook 2010 its splash screen appears as it starts, but when I open any other application or activate any open window the Outlook splash screen immediately moves to the background so it does not block the other application.
I'm usually attached to my corporate network and we use several Outlook plug-ins that may take some time to load. Hence, the Outlook splash screen may be displayed for a minute or so. But that delay is not a problem because I can continue to work on any open window; the Outlook splash screen goes to the background.
For some reason PSP takes a LONG TIME to load on my laptop, even longer when I am disconnected from the corporate network (probably because the shared drives are no longer accessible). Two or three minutes can transpire while that splash screen blocks everything. It is most annoying.
That's all. Thanks.
