It's limited to GIF's, which only allow 256 colors. Most folks now want many more colors.
why is it limited to GIF's?
have apng, mmg, SVG and all the video formats been uninvented? why did i not get the email about this?
The original poster mentioned animation from JASC's PaintShop Pro version 7. The cost and complexity would be multiplied many times more if Corel were to not simply add GIF animation support but also support for numerous animated formats.
And the demand -- "desire" really, I wouldn't say it rises to the level of a "demand" -- for support for newer fringe formats is far less than even the desire/demand for GIF's -- especially in a product that retails for $100. Let's face it -- how many folks working mainly with a $100 program (often available for under $50) have a burning need for animated SVGs or other animated formats that have never caught on?
Thanks for mentioning that! I do have one place where I need an animated GIF, I created one with Photoscape, but the previous image doesn't completely disappear although I have that option set. I don't normally use GIMP, and I didn't realize it supports animation.
In focus stacking, a series of photos of an object, all taken at different focal points of the object are combined.
Anywhere from 5 to more than 50 focal steps.
The stack is combined, with the highest focus being used from each photo, resulting in a final image which is completely in focus through the entire scene.
In Macro (more correctly micro in Nikon parlance) Photography this is an effective way to get a beautifully sharp photo, when you are typically dealing with an extremely shallow depth of field. She, stopping down the aperture can increase the depth of field, but the result is a soft photo.
Thanks for explaining that. I don't do photography, I mainly do retouching of documents and photos for genealogy.
But I can definitely see where that would be useful, especially for photos that "pop". From your description, I get the impression that with a lot of photos I've seen that "pop", which I thought was done mainly using HDR, it sounds like focus stacking was also used.
Better multi-thread capability. With 4 cores and 8 threads it would be nice to see my processor stretch its legs.
Fix 64 bit version's inability to see scanner, make it faster, encourage 64 bit plugin development (I often use 32 bit just to access the far greater number of plugins I have for it).
Create menu option to eliminate annoying popups on program exit: "buy this," "upgrade to that." I expect it from freeware, not from a program I've purchased (on several occasions as upgrades ... I started with PSP 5).
Provide for integration with ASP. It'd be pretty cool to do initial cataloging, selection, and processing in ASP and have them transferred seamlessly to PSP for the final work.
With 16GB of RAM, you might want to look into using some of it as a RAMDisk and putting your temp files on that. A RAMDisk can give read/write speeds 8-10 times faster than an SSD. AMD has RAMDisk software free for 4GB or $20 for up to 64GB: http://www.radeonmemory.com/support_tutorials.php
Also, if you don't have an SSD you might want to look into adding one.
Note: I checked again for an unrelated reason and the lowest paid license is $10, not $20.
