Paint Shop Pro Wishlist for version X7

Post by BrianCee »

As always when a new version is released we start a new topic to allow users to say what they would like to see in the next version of PaintShop pro thus giving Corel developers one topic to follow to understand customers requirements.

Please keep any suggestions sensible - plus this is not a place to complain about what YOU may consider to be bugs or faults. Those items should be placed in a new thread or tagged onto an existing one dealing with that same issue.

The previous wishlist for version X6 can be found here :-

1. A Spot Healing Brush with a "Content Aware" option, as in the Photoshop apps.
2. Update the KPT Collection to support 16 bit/channel images, as well as making it an x64 plugin.
3. The option to disable using the mouse wheel for zooming!!!!
4. The option to use precise cursors for the Object Extractor's tools instead of those stupid, <expletive deleted> icons.

Top of my Wishlist for X7 is Panoramic Stitching of photos.
Ideally this would be based on the renowned AutoStitch program from British Columbia University
as is used in Serif Panorama Plus.

The refinement for PSP would be the ability to manipulate the resultant 'layers' composing the panorama.

Second on my Wishlist for X7 is a new set of Raw Conversion tools
ideally this would be based on those in AfterShot Pro.

As with ASP the resultant image should be presented directly into the normal PSP Edit Mode workspace for manipulation
including the facilities for Exposure Adjustment, Highlight Recovery and Blacks Enhancement.

A real gradient tool, allowing direct drawing of the gradient in the Edit workspace.

I keep hoping for a locking Toolbar like back in the days when Jasc was still developing PSP. When attempting to adjust sliders the toolbars occassionally come undocked and redocking them is sometimes a pain. Why was the locking toolbar option removed?

Larger filesize support. 20,000 pixels is from the previous century.
Follow mouse while zooming. It's a pain to get into a corner. It wouldn't be so bad if the arrow keys wouldn't jump just one pixel at a time.
Locking toolbars.

Plug-in support has been ignored for to long. Plug-ins are being created all the time, and with more and more of them not working in PSP it's a real shame.

Option to change colour of precise cursor. It's a pain to see against some backgrounds.

20,000 pixels where do you get that number?
a 200x100 image is 20,000 pixels

File > New> Type in any number larger than 20000 for a width or height dimension and it is not allowed. So 20000 x 20000 pixels is the largest size image that can be processed. (X4, X5 had 10000 x 10000 pixel limits. ) . My current camera images are 5616 x 3744 pixels. To make a panorama containing more than 5 images would be almost impossible.
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867

Thank you. That is a bit different then stating 20,000 pixels is the largest size.

1. PLEASE allow docking of Materials, Layers, Palettes, etc to the left.

I'm still dumbfounded at the reasoning behind restriciting the UI layout so that those items can only be docked to the right.
I upgraded to X5, discovered I couldn't dock many items to the left, and haven't used it since. That limitation alone was a show stopper. Still using X3 for this reason.

i haven't been able to check if this was done in X6. But assuming it wasn't. then this:
flagpole wrote:Anyone know if there will be support for png with indexed colour (8bit,) and alpha transparency?

it's a right pia at the moment. i have to save my images, upload them to tinypng. and keep the originals.

also save me reading the thread. do we know if this is likely to be released at the beginning of september?
