Something else I've come across is when moving an image there are times it gets to the point where I'm not sure which is actually the REAL image, other times fragments are left behind, making it difficult to edit. In the sample image below the segment on the far right is part of the actual image.

There's a bug with PNG format files that when saved, convert from pixels per inch to pixels per cm regardless as to settings in preferences. This bug has been reported for PSP 9, PSP X, PSPX1, PSP X2, PSP X3, PSP X4 and PSP X5 where support staff log the reported technical issue as "Closed" without addressing it. The bug appears in PSP X6 as well and it's really easy to reproduce - resize any PNG at 200 ppi and save it. Close the file, open the file, then check image info: ppi is now ppcm. This only seems to occur for PNG files. A second frustrating aspect is the insufficient rounding used for the conversion so that it's not completely accurate.

If anyone knows how to submit a bug report or to whom it should be addressed, please post a reply. There's nothing for this at the Corel web site and it's not a support issue users should have to pay for.

My X6 CD was delivered today and I just finished customizing the workspace and checking things out. I skimmed through this thread but I saw no mention of the problem of images disappearing from the tray(s). Is there any way to save a tray? Every time I close X6, the images disappear from all of my trays. Does SP1 fix this?

I've also noticed something odd in a couple of dialog boxes that pop up when I open or close X6. In both of the screenshots below, there's an image missing and all I see is a red "X". What is supposed to be there?

I've figured out the tray issue and I do seem to recall reading this somewhere. The images in a tray will only be saved if you add them via the Collections tab of the Navigation palette. If you add them via the Computer tab, they aren't saved.

Just installed PSP X6 in hope of better 64-bit performance & hit the scanner "wall" (the nasty shock of no 64-bit TWAIN support).

I tried PSPX6-64 using WIA: File | Import |From Scanner or Camera, with my Epson GT-15000 scanner. Scan window pops up, preview works, I set the resolution & the scan runs, but nothing in PSP: no window or tab, and PSP X6 is not responding. Via Task Manager I try "switch to task" & get an error popup & PSP is still unresponsive, so I close it w/Task Mgr.

Now PSPX6 will not start, but crashed right away w/the "has stopped working" message immediately.

Noticing the reference to Wintab32.dll in this error? WIA worked fine in PSP X5 with the newly scanned file open in PSP.

Ugly, & I am frustrated! Eventually I think to restart two services (WIA & Wintab), and can run PSP X6 again. Next time the WIA File import works fine... must have been standing on the wrong foot before.

I can in 64bit X6.

I've not used the TWAIN acquire since PSP3. X5 couldn't TWAIN and now neither can X6. I've trained myself to use the : File | Import |From Scanner or Camera - option.

This is working fine with my EPSON 580.

Grazie
BUT WIA limitations & interface are unacceptable! My new workaround: a desktop shortcut to PSPX6 32bit with a script on the command line that runs Import--> TWAIN Acquire. It starts my EPSON scanner s/w for me (if I remember to turn the scanner ON :-). Every little bit helps !!!!

Do you know if the WIA default scan resolution can be changed?

When I use : File | Import |From Scanner or Camera, I have a default setting of 100dpi. I scan frequently so resetting the resolution every time is extremely tedious. My web search seemed to indicate no access to the default WIA settings!

---Update: WIA is inadequate. There is no convenient access to settings, no color corrections, etc. So back to TWAIN, with PSPX6 32-bit

I've got the same problem. I tried to figure out when problem appears and I realized that it's always then when image is greater than the workspace. So when I zoom in and try to move a layer then it's not "refreshing" correctly (as it showed karebai). I must zoom out to see where the layer was moved. It's a horrible bug and actually I can't use new version of PSP because of that. Please fix it as soon as possible. I guess this problem appeared with a new workspace which now have some free space (background) around the image.

I am using Windows XP Pro SP3 with max memory. Since I installed PSP X6 every so often the windows control buttons (min, max, restore and sometimes parts of the scroll bar and other icons and check boxes) become corrupt. They may be displayed as blank or multicolored. (They still work though.) Logging off then on fixes the issue. The picture is what the 3 buttons look like. For some reason the image would not post.

My research also found that deleting C:\Documents and Settings\Your User Name\Local Settings\Application Data\Iconcache.db and then logging off and on will fix it.

Fit to Image Bug

Post by sleenie »

I just recetnly upgraded and am trying to set up my Wrokspace just as in PSPv5.

I have never used the tabs. When I open the images in the workspace I sometimes want to make them smaller. I like to see multiple onesd at a time. Before my upgrade I never had a problem. Now it seems that when I scroll with the mouse to make it smaller, instead of the window getting smaller only the image does which leaves me with a large border around it. A real pain to work with.

My upgrade download included SP1.

Has anyone got an idea on how to get around this?

Thanks

Go to Window in the menu and select Cascade. Under Window you also have the option to tile the windows. Cascade will allow different sizes of pictures to cohabit the workspace.

There was a problem in SP1 that the window frame did not zoom with the image. Go to http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... &start=105, page eight, second last post, for a link to a download to fix that problem.

PSP X6 - In manage mode when I pulled the preview window to a second monitor it worked fine until I closed the program and reopened it. Now when I select manage mode the preview window pops into view for an instant on the second monitor and then disappears. Does anyone know how to get the window back. Maybe to get it to redock.

Hello Bonjovicrzy!

I have the same problem than you. Balls and bubbles crashes PSP each time I use it. I have Windows 7 Professional 64 bits and I run PSP X6 64 bits as well. The downloading of the service pack 1 doesn't change anything.
