Simple process to crop the video?
As I did all my recording, I noticed a distracting element in the bottom right corner of the image and I would like to crop it out. I calculated that I could use the crop filter at 90% and it gets rid of that annoyance. However, this leaves some black space around, which I don't need. Maybe I need something more like a zoom-in so I can only see 90% of the original image, but taking up the whole space available (without that frame around). I would assume that exists but I cannot find it, or if there is a different process, I have not figured it out.
Help would be appreciated.

Hi
There may be other options but the FX filter Video Pan and Zoom should do that,
Drag the filter to the clip.
Double click the clip to open the “options” panel, Attributes tab
Customise Filter will open another window allowing you to set the Pan and Zoom area.
Set the first keyframe to zoom area required.
Right click first Key Frame for paste options.

Cassel,
You almost had it using the Cropping filter method.
Go to FX and drag the Cropping filter on your file.
Open Options panel.
Click Customize Filter.
Set Width and Height % Example: 90% for both.
Check Stationary box if this is going to be a static crop with no movement.
Now, the step you missed. Uncheck the Fill Color box.
To make sure the changes apply to the whole video, click on the first frame red diamond and right click and Apply Copy and Paste to All.
That's it.

Re: Simple process to crop the video?
Thanks! That worked.
I knew it had to be something simple. I am still overwhelmed by everything VS can do!
While at it, can I crop/zoom and not go in the center of the image?

Re: Simple process to crop the video?
What's the difference between checking the Stationary box and not checking it, if you are using the same filter for the whole clip anyway?

Re: Simple process to crop the video?
If you check the stationary box then the cropping area stays static throughout - if you do not tick it then the crop area can move, either accidentally because you set first and subsequent keyframes differently - or deliberately because that's what you wanted.

Re: Simple process to crop the video?
Thanks. But if I check Stationary then I still have to copy it across to the last frame to keep it from zooming back out slowly to the end of the clip? Stationary only refers to the center of the crop but not how much it crops?

Re: Simple process to crop the video?
Yes - stationary just means not moving about - it doesn't refer to the size of the cropping area.
if you right click over the first keyframe you can choose - "copy and paste to all Right" - that will keep the crop area constant.
