I have been recording some narration in little chunks (for easier editing if needed), but they are called uvs130819-011.WAV. I understand about the date, but I would rather have them named by the first few words of the "paragraph" read, or something else that would make more sense to me.
Is there a way to change the name of the sound clips ?

Re: Renaming a sound track?
Yes of course there is - in exactly the same way as you can change the name of any file in the windows system - just go to the file and slowly double click on the file name - type your new name and press enter to save it.
you can now either - delete the block in your timeline and import the file again with the new name OR right click on the block in the time line and choose 'replace clip' then browse to the renamed file and select it - in both cases the name of the block in the timeline will change.
Or if the files are not in your timeline then just import them with the new name
You can also do this with any of your files used in VideoStudio including all your videos.

Hum, yeah, I meant in the timeline itself. It is a bit cumbersome to note the number in the timeline, go to the folder, rename, and import. I thought I could, somehow, just rename the clip in the timeline, just like one can rename a layer I PSP, or rename the file in Windows.

Right click over the block in the audio timeline and choose "locate on computer" - this will open the Windows Explorer window with that clip highlighted - change the name - go back to VideoStudio - right click over the block again - this time choose "replace clip" browse to the re-named file and select it.
no need to write down the uvs130820-001 bit.

That works, but it is quite convoluted!
Maybe I should add a suggestion in the wishlist for next version to have a direct rename function.

Re: Renaming a sound track?
There is a by now extremely venerable list of exactly that wish associated with just about all versions where such wish list existed. And so far, totally ignored by Corel. That's another reason I use third party video capture and audio editing programs as you can name the resulting files anything you like *before* they are initially inserted in VS.Maybe I should add a suggestion in the wishlist for next version to have a direct rename function.
