VHS filter

Post by leszektrojanowski »

Hi there,

I'm a user of Corel x6 at the moment and it works perfectly. I wonder if there's a sort of VHS filter/mask available to be used with Corel x6 so the digital copy looks a bit 'damaged' and as if it was recorded in the 1980s.

Regards,

In the "FX" library you will find a filter called 'Old Film' - drag that down from the library and drop it on your video in the timeline - then open the 'Options' panel and choose 'Customise filter" to allow you to set a fade colour and determine how many scratches and how much 'dust' to put on your image.

Thanks. But that will give me a black and white picture. Besides the scratches look silly and nothing like the old VHS look.

Leszek,

This effect would require a lot of trial and error and filter stacking in an editor to achieve your desired result. This is more of a project for a devoted compositing program like Adobe After Effects. If you want to take a try at using open source software, check out the links provided below.
