Hi, I've just upgraded from Video Studio X2 to X4, and I've run into a problem. Unlike X2, which still quite happily makes my DVDs for me, X4 however refuses to attempt coding and shows a pop-up which says the following:
"The working folder (C:\users\Chips\Documents\CorelVideoStudioPro\14.0\) may not have enough space. We will help to clean the converted cache file. You can also change the working folder path in preferences."
Like I said, I tried X2 again and it's working okay. Anyone know what's wrong with X4 for this to happen and how to correct it?

Can you confirm that the X2 working folder is :- C:\Users\Chips\Documents\Corel VideoStudio\12.0
eg - is the working folder for X2 on the same hard drive as X4
eg - is the working folder for X2 on the same hard drive as X4

Re: X4: Not Enough Working Folder Space?
Hi, sorry for taking so long to reply, but I've been trying to sort things out through trial and error, that and X4's on another unconnected computer. I finally got it to work, but in doing so ran into a couple of new problems.
1. Although X4 certainly allows MP4s (unlike X2) and records them onto disk very well, I've found that it has troubles recording, or even doesn't record sound on AVI files at all. One AVI I tried had the first quarter of the soundtrack missing and when I tried to corrected it by using MediaCoder to make a better copy the sound went altogether! The same goes for the other AVI I have, only the sound didn't record from the start on that one. And yep, all the sound is there in preview, it's only when I try to record it that I lose sound.
As a result, I uninstalled X4 and reinstalled X2 to see if that recorded the sound on the very same AVI files and it did! The sound is all there on the recordings made through X2, but X4 just doesn't like them for some reason. On the other hand both WMVs and MP4s are perfect through X4. Anyone know why it loses sound when recording AVI files and X2 doesn't? Is there any way to fix X4 so it'll record sound on AVI files just as X2 does?
2. The function for deleting temporary files after recording doesn't seem to work on X4. It just keeps on swallowing memory no matter how many times I click on the trashcan icon. Again, X2 doesn't have this fault. Anyone know what's wrong?

Yes, it was. I decided to uninstall X2 though, just in case there was any conflicts.BrianCee wrote:Can you confirm that the X2 working folder is :- C:\Users\Chips\Documents\Corel VideoStudio\12.0

Re: X4: Not Enough Working Folder Space?
Regarding your AVI problem, we need to know exactly what type of AVI you are talking about. You see, there are over 800 different types of video formats which use the .avi extension. It is just a wrapper extension apart from "true" or "original" uncompressed AVI which is huge, running at over 60 GB (yes gigabytes) per hour of video. At the other end of the spectrum there are highly compressed formats such as XVid and DivX, which are really a type of mpeg-4 but which also call themselves AVI.
So please right click on one of your AVIs and copy ALL its Properties here please (or Upload a screen shot of the Properties box). Do the same if more than one version of an .avi is used.
I can't really help with your second problem as I don't really understand what you are doing. Are you talking about deleting temp files (which temp files?) *within* VS or within Windows? I'm also not sure what you mean by "swallowing memory". How are you measuring that?
As for uninstalling X2, as far as we here are aware, there are no conflicts between separate installations of VS versions. Some of us have several versions installed on the same computer so as to be able to help out users with problems in earlier versions, and each versions runs just fine without causing conflicts in other versions.
