Source format when capturing video
What's the best format to use please when transferring VHS tapes to my p.c? I've tried AVI but an average tape takes up to 400Mb on my hard drive which seems excessive. The VHS tapes mainly have films and documentaries the majority of which will be deleted once I've watched them on my p.c. Many thanks for any advice offered.

Re: Source format when capturing video
When capturing VHS tapes I always use mpeg-2 (DVD) - there is no point in going any better than that.
incidentally an .avi video of 400Mb is a very small video - with "standard" DV .avi a one hour video can be 13GB
