Time lapse doesn't work with stop motion
I took 650 pictures to make a stop motion animation, then imported the pictures to the time line, then selected the "video", then right clicked to time-lapse the video, and the time lapse is grayed out. Can someone tell me what's going wrong?

Re: Time lapse doesn't work with stop motion
First you select the Time Lapse(under File) then you add the photos.

Thanks but time-lapse is not an option under file. It's only an option when you right click on the timeline.

Yes it is, select Insert Media File to timeline and it is there.

Re: Time lapse doesn't work with stop motion
I should have specified I'm using VS Ultimate Pro6. It's not under file, but I found it under edit.

Re: Time lapse doesn't work with stop motion
Hi
Double clicking the “video clip” will open the Options panel below the Library
Choose the Edit tab, (right of preview screen)
The Speed/Timelapse and Variable Speed should be available.
You have added 650 images to the timeline, did you reduce their duration to maybe one frame? Or do you need longer.?
I assume you are also using a Video Clip to use Timelapse?
I am a little confused in using Images and Video + timelapse?

Re: Time lapse doesn't work with stop motion
Ok. No matter what I do, I can't get the "Speed/Time-lapse" to be active. It's grayed out. Even when I right click on one of the clips in the timeline, there is not even an option to use time-lapse. I figured if I can get the 650 photos to be a video, maybe I would have that option. I'm looking all over google for some kind of an answer for this but I can't find one. It's costing me hours of time.
I tried to find the answers to these questions on the program itself, but the only things they seem to focus on is "What's new in Video studio 6". I don't really care about what's new. I just want to find out how to solve problems and how to use it. Maybe I'm missing something.

Re: Time lapse doesn't work with stop motion
Hello Trevor,
Thanks for your help. When I double click on a clip, and it opens up the options panel, the only options I get are...the clock, color correction, presampling and pan and zoom. Not much help for what I need to do.

Do you have video clips in the timeline? I am not quite sure on what you are doing really.

Re: Time lapse doesn't work with stop motion
At the outset, I have to say I know absolutely nothing about time lapse in VS. I've never used it.
But backing up a few posts, I have at least found that under File > Insert Media File to Timeline, when I click on the outward arrow to get a dropdown menu, at the bottom of that dropdown is "Insert photo for time lapse/strobe". Can you see that?
After that, though, someone else will have to give directions...

Re: Time lapse doesn't work with stop motion
I know that I can get the option to use "Insert photo for time lapse/strobe", but that option is kind of basic.
Ok, what I'm trying to do is make a set of 650 photos that I took so I can make a stop motion, time-lapse video of it. So I'm trying to turn the set of photos that are in the timeline into a video so that I can use the options available like you would have for a video instead of a bunch of photos. I don't want to have to use options separately for each photo. that would take a hundred years. I just want to combine the photos into one video.
Something tells me that I wasted my time taking all those photos, because I thought I can make a video out of the combined photos.

Re: Time lapse doesn't work with stop motion
You are confusing Stop Motion and timelapse - they are two different concepts.
It is easy to make a video of your 650 photos. Add them to the timeline, then select share and create video file. It is as simple as that. It has nothing to do with timelapse at this point.

Re: Time lapse doesn't work with stop motion
Hi
Please read my previous reply
You cannot use Speed/Timelapse and Variable Speed on images, those options are applied to video clips.
OK
Change the duration of all image clips to one frame.
How
click the first image to select
Shift click the last frame will select all
Go to Edit--Change Colour/Image duration
Set to 1 frame (00:00:00:01)
Play the images in project playback.
you may wish to increase the image duration to more frames.
Share Create Video File --choose your preferred option--will create a video of the 65 images
Post Updated
Just read Kens reply again regarding inserting images, not noticed that before, the option inserts images to 1 frame if you wish, that overcomes the Change Colour/Image duration.
Thanks Ken

Re: Time lapse doesn't work with stop motion
rkstudio,
What you want to do can be done simply in VideoStudio by using Ulead Image Sequence(.uis). Please follow these steps.
1) File>Insert Media File to Timeline>Insert Video
2) Under Files of type: use dropdown and click on Ulead Image Sequence(*.uis)
3) Click on Options button
4) Under Select (First image file:)find your folder containing your image files and click on the first image file. They must be in numeric order. Example: IMG0001, IMG0002, IMG0003.... IMG0650
5) Total frames: will equal your number of images.
6) Frame rate: you can determine how many images will be used for frames/sec.
7) Image sequence file should have identified the path directory with folder of images with first image and added .uis extension.
8) Click OK
9) Open Video File dialog should be open and find new created .uis file and click on it.
10) Should be added to the timeline, ready for editing. *Note: because you are using an .uis file it will now be treated as a video file on the timeline in which speed and filters can be applied on the whole.
That's it. Hope this helps.

Re: Time lapse doesn't work with stop motion
Hi rwernyei
As far as I know rkstudio is not using any video files.
650 images have been inserted to the timeline. So just a simple job of setting the frames per image and rendering to a video file.
At least that’s how I read it now, I have to admit in being a little confused…………..
