VideoStudio Pro X4 missing project file on disc

Post by wallaby2013 »

I am successfully creating a DVD using the Create Disc (DVD) option under the Share menu. I am adding multiple Project files that I have created (.VSP) files to it. Once it is all set up, I select Burning Options add Copyright Information and then I have also clicked on the add Project File to the disc option. However once the disc is created, I cannot find the Project File (.VSP) on the disc.

I am using VideoStudio Pro X4 with all the patches to SP3 installed. PAL system, and I am not receiving any errors.

Am I missing something simple? Does the Project File added to the disc not use the same file extension?

Hi

The project file should use the extension VSP. (Video Studio Project)

I usually use the option to add a personal folder, don’t think I have used the Add Project File. Besides know knowing which VSP will be saved.

The VSP is of course no good without the clips used in the project.

I have just run a quick test and a folder called ULEADDMF is created when selecting to include the project file.
This contains a UFO file which is the Menu Template file, (the one selected from the gallery) I do not know what the DMF_ON_DISC.dwz is or what it does.

If you wish to save files to disc, maybe full images used on the movie then use the Personal folder option.

But again saving the VSP is useless without the clips used.

Hope this helps

Thanks Trevor,

Actually that does help. It is creating this ULEADDMF folder & the .dwz file as your quick test did. But you have made me think it through a bit more and all I really want is a .VSP file that saves the menu template of the original clips & their associated .VSP's on to my hard drive, so if I need to redo them in the future it is easy to do so without recreating that work.

I've just ran another test of setting up the disc burn again, but this time after setting it up I have saved the whole project with the menu created thru the Share menu and it is working how I expected. I think I lost myself as I was working on clips that I edited back in 2012, and I forgot a few of the steps. I will write myself a quick how to so the next time I pick it up again after a break, I don't have too much to get reacquainted with again.

Thanks again.

Hi

Once you have created the menu structure, when you close the burner module you are returned back to the edit timelines.
Saving the project now will retain the menu structure, so when you Share Create Disc DVD you should see the menu intact.
Some details like Personal folder may be removed.

Take care, if you now edit the project you may upset the menu.

If you are looking into backing up the actual project use File - Smart Package, this will create copies of all the timelines content, saving them to a new folder along with the VSP project file.
Not sure if this would include the Disc menu structure.

Save your own template
Using Video Studio Share Create disc-menus, you can customise and save a menu as your favourites. From the Edit Tab change the template, add a background image etc.
Customise change one of the options makes “Add to menu Template “ available.
Template will be available from the Favourites gallery.

Photo Impact

This program is capable of creating/editing UFO type files, so you can if you wish create your own menu templates.
Infact it’s the only program to do that.
