Brian & Canuck sorry but again I did not answer your question my fault.
I THINK THAT WE ARE ON TO SOMETHING!
As I have learnt that what I was looking at is the files for that DISC I guess they will be different for each disc.
HERE is what you wanted me to send you
7 FILES WITH EXTENTIONS:
VIDEO_TS - BUP FILE - 32KB
VIDEO_TS - IFO FILE - 32KB
VIDEO_ TS- WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER 18400 KB
VTS_01_0 -BUP FILE -64K
VTS_01_0 -IFO FILE -64K
VTS_01_0 - WINDOWS MEDIA PL 1.000,242...
VTS_01_02 WINDOWS MEDIA PL 890,830 KB

The file structure will be identical on every disc - that is how a DVD works - the only thing different will be the size of the files and the number of them depending on the length of your video.

Something very strange though - you do not appear to have any .vob files - where are your vob files ?

Are you also saying that those 7 files are NOT in a Video_TS folder ??

You are not listing the filenames with the extensions. Perhaps you have that option turned off.

Go to Windows Explorer--Organize--View and make sure that "Hide extensions for known file types" is not checked .

You should now see the filenames with the extensions such as
.bup
.ifo
.vob

We are only interested what shows in the Name column, everything else is not that important.
If you look at the DVD with Windows Explorer you should see a folder called Video_TS which should contain the files that have the above extension

I think the files associated with Windows Media Player are the vob files

Hi Bendgee,

I've been reading this post and just thought I'd throw in my two cents.

You are not giving the files EXTENSIONS. You are giving the file TYPE when you say a file is a Windows Media File (see the column heading that says "Type"?).

The file extensions are included in file "Name" column and are part of the file name. They are the three letters after the period.

For example, a file VTS_01_1 should be VTS_01_1.VOB and has the VOB extension. You obviously have the file extension feature turned OFF so that it is not displayed.

Please turn this feature ON now before doing anything else
, which is what Ken suggested a while ago:
You might also want to check in Windows Explorer (NOT Internet Explorer). Click on Organize. Then in the drop down menu click on Folder and Search Optons. In the new box which appears, click on the View tab (the middle one), and go down the list a little way and untick the box beside "Hide extensions for known file types" if it is ticked.
On your computer, you should see something similar to the picture given in this post: http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 30#p274713
Do you see them?

If you still don't know what I mean, you might want to read this post again: http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 30#p274784
Your files should now show similar EXTENSIONS as those he highlighted in red.

In your next response please list your files and sizes as you did above, but this time list the full file name WITH EXTENSIONS.

Thanks.

This getting more and more confusing. You told us above that you have the following on your disc:
FIRST: VIDEO_ TS.
SECOND: VIDEO_TS
THIRD : VIDEO_TS
FOURTH : VTS_01_0
FIFTH: VTS_01_0
SIXTH: VTS_01_1
SEVENTH: VTS_01_2
Now you are telling us you have the following:
VIDEO_TS - BUP FILE - 32KB
VIDEO_TS - IFO FILE - 32KB
VIDEO_ TS- WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER 18400 KB
VTS_01_0 -BUP FILE -64K
VTS_01_0 -IFO FILE -64K
VTS_01_0 - WINDOWS MEDIA PL 1.000,242...
VTS_01_02 WINDOWS MEDIA PL 890,830 KB
The SIXTH entry is now different i.e. you now say it is VTS_01_0 where before you said it was VTS_01_1. Which is correct???

Either way, however, you are missing a file. Going on your latest list I would have expected there to be another file, which I have inserted in red:
VTS_01_0 - WINDOWS MEDIA PL 1.000,242...
VTS_01_1.VOB (or in your list type VTS_01_1 WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER)
VTS_01_02 WINDOWS MEDIA PL 890,830 KB
If such a file is indeed missing from your disc, I would have thought that is the reason why it will not play in a stand-alone player.

I don't understand what you mean by the comment I highlighted in red. What Video_TS folder are you talking about?
The files you listed are the files that should be in the Video_TS folder on the DVD in your drive D. Are you saying there is no Video_TS folder on that DVD?

I don't know what the blue highlighted comment means. What is an "odt"?

In your file list above, there should also be a VTS_01_0.vob entry. If that is not there then the disc is corrupt and will never play.

When typing in the file list make sure you type it in correctly. There are several typos in your list.
If the list were correct it would look like this:

VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VIDEO_TS.VOB
VTS_01_0.BUP
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_0.VOB
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB

The image you show is of the results of a SEARCH. That is not how you would show the structure on your DVD. To do that, you just need to go down the left hand side of that image to where is written "Computer". Below that, you have your DVD Drive letter. Just highlight that, and in the right hand window, there should appear Video_TS. When you double click on that, it should then list all the files in that that folder. But as I have already said, and canuck has now repeated, if you only have seven files listed when there should be eight, then that is the cause of your problem.

Ken I have checked and rechecked and there are only 7 files there. Are the files generated from the disc , computer, or the program ? SORRY for my lack of computer skills. I thought that in my search for VIDEO_TS FOLDER there would be more than 2 entries this year. The extension.odt is the file for my writer file as I had to shrink the size of the file to send it and that's how I did it.
Why or What do you think is the reason I have only 7 files? which of these are suspect : Computer? Disc? Program? I have tried several Discs. Bendgee

Ken is it possible that I have to add a converter to the program. I suspected it would be in COREL VIDEO ULTIMATE X5. Just a thought Bendgee

Forget about searching for a Video_TS folder on your hard drive or wherever you are searching. We are only interested in the Video_TS folder on your DVD disc and there should only be one. If there is no Video_TS folder on your DVD then you do not have a video DVD.

Could you please explain exactly how you created the DVD?

You do not need any converter program. VS X5 will do what you want. Once we know exactly what you did we can show you what your are doing wrong and hopefully put you on the correct path.

.odt is the extension used by Open Office for it's Writer programme - it seems that Bendgee is using that to resize his screen capture images.

Ok, that makes sense. I was under the impression that bendgee was using that program to somehow "shrink" the Video_TS folder he may have created and send it to the DVD. I will remove my comment in my last post that refers to odt files.
I guess I am getting more and more confused.
