Cannot split clip VS6

Post by Pete Waterman »

Hi all
I've been doing a project using two different cameras, I've done some of it and saved as a .mpg without a problem.
Now for some reason I cannot use the split clip tool it is greyed out all the time no mater how I have the clip in the timeline be it set to clip or project.
Image
I made one cut to align two clips now nothing
As I say I've completed three parts of the project without a problem using the split clip tool, does anyone have any ideas on this??
Thanks
Pete

Hi Pete

Yep there does seem to be something amiss

The white bar showing under the preview screen normally shows in project mode, in clip playback that is blue. At least for me that what I see.
I don’t know what is happening and have tried to simulate your project,

You have FX selected for the library, try clicking away from that?

Maybe a full image would help.
Use Alt+PrtSc to copy, create an image save under 256Kb
Use the attachments option at the bottom of the post to add your image.
Do not use the IMG tags.
The image will display small but allow the viewers to click and enlarge.

Hi Pete

Have you applied Advanced Motion from the Attributes tab?

Is it the .mts clip in the overlay track or the .mod one in the main track -- or both -- you are trying to split? If it is the mts clip, do the scissors activate if you moved the mts to the main track?

Thanks for the help, I had done a fad in the Advanced Motion and that stops me from cutting the clip
I removed the Advanced Motion and all can be cut again!
As far as I'm aware if I add any of the FX filters I can still cut the clip, but it seems not with the Advanced Motion!
Strange but I guess there must be a reason??
Thanks

Hi Pete

Thanks for the feedback, at least we identified the culprit.
I find it best to do all the cutting and removing of unwanted frames before I apply any filters or effects.

On a side note I notice you are viewing the clip as a thumbnail and name, is this intentional, you can change that in preferences to show the entire clip. To view all frames.

I've always done it this way, never give it a thought on changing it! might just give it a go to see
Thanks
