VS pro X5 crashes on startup.

Post by Justin_sane »

Hey everyone,

I bought VS Pro X5 a this past winter to edit my GoPro footage. I did some testing when I first bought it to make sure I could get a handle on it. It was pretty smooth and simple to use. I just had not gathered enough video to edit at that point, so I had not used the software for at least 6-7 months now.

I tried to use it today, and it crashes on startup every time. so I uninstalled it (from the control panel, add/remove programs). Restarted my computer, and reinstalled it again. I am getting the exact same problem.

It launches fine, but as soon as the program interface comes up, it turns grey, then I get a windows message saying the program has stopped working, then it closes.

I am running Windows 7 home premium, 64 bit, Toshiba Qosmio laptop, intel I7 2.2 ghz, 8 GB ram, etc.

Its not a hardware thing because Ive used the software before without any issues.

Should I try to uninstall again, remove the keys from the registry and reinstall? any software or update conflicts that anyone is aware of that can cause this issue?

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the quick reply. I searched through and I dont have any of those installed.

I did go through and remove (or disable If remove was not an option) all of the add ons that were listed on chrome and IE. I also uninstalled any programs that I dont use anymore in case there were any conflicts.

If it helps this is listed on the windows error

Files that help describe the problem:
C:\Users\futureshop\AppData\Local\Temp\WERDCCA.tmp.WERInternalMetadata.xml
C:\Users\futureshop\AppData\Local\Temp\WERF347.tmp.appcompat.txt
C:\Users\futureshop\AppData\Local\Temp\WERF3F4.tmp.mdmp

I will look through the knowledge base right now to see if i can find anything.

Thanks again

Well, I feel dumb.

I did an update of the Nvidea Geforce drivers, and the issue is solved. It seems that some of my updates that have occurred since the last time I ran the program likely conflicted with my older video drivers.

Problem solved.

Thanks
