Burning DVD

Post by john chapple »

Why does the wizard say the burner is busy for another application every time I click the burn icon. How do I get the thing to burn a project!

Have you tried using the straight editor/burning module instead of the Wizard? (Afraid I can't help with the Wizard as I have never -- not once -- used it.)

What version of VS are you using?

Hi John

Some programs take control of the disc drive, other programs then see the drive as busy.

Nero INCD was one such program that caused this problem.

What other programs are you running that may use the drive?

Hi Ken, I'm using vs4, selecting 'Share' then dvd and going through the steps until burn option, then clicking burn.

Your use of the term 'wizard' confused me. You are obviously using the straight editing option.

As for InCD, check in Control Panel > Programs and Features. If you have InCD, it is listed as a separate program and you need to remove it (not the whole Nero suite). But there are other programs, such as a similar one in the Roxio suite, which do the same thing. The Roxio one, if you have it, can be internally disabled, unlike InCD. Windows > Send To also send files to a burning folder associated with the driver, waiting to be burnt to disc -- though I have not heard of that one blocking other programs.

Hi Ken. Thanks, I guess I am using the editing option. Things seem to be ok when I reboot the computer. I will look for InCD and delete it. Thanks for all your help
