Running VideoStudio X6 with two graphics cards?
Sorry for the repetition of the topic, but I haven't had any responses to my other two posts.
Is anyone else using VideoStudio X6 on a computer that has two graphics cards?
If so, are there any problems?
On my machine it starts very strangely and the screen-capture function doesn't work at all. Otherwise it's OK.
I'll appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

Why start a new topic, it just confuses things?
If you are getting no or few responses it is most likely because no one is using a 2 graphics card setup.

Thank you for your input. All I can say is over 200 people have viewed the other two posts, but there was only one response, and it was off the mark.canuck wrote:Why start a new topic, it just confuses things? ...
I felt my earlier posts had been overly detailed and hoped this one would simplify things. Your assessment that it might actually achieve the opposite effect sort of surprised me, but I guess, as they say, that's what makes horse racing.

Re: Running VideoStudio X6 with two graphics cards?
Having two threads going on the same problem is what is confusing not the fact that there are too many details.
Since there have been over 200 views of your other topic that simply shows that very few people have your setup and can comment on it.
I also have no suggestion or solution but to me it would seem that having 2 active graphics cards will "confuse" the program

Again, thank you for your input. Actually, I wanted to delete the other two topics when I started this one, but it's not possible.canuck wrote:Having two threads going on the same problem is what is confusing not the fact that there are too many details.
I'm surprised over two hundred people have taken time to look at a topic that's of no relevance to them, but anything's possible.Since there have been over 200 views of your other topic that simply shows that very few people have your setup and can comment on it.
Thanks nonetheless for your effort.I also have no suggestion or solution but to me it would seem that having 2 active graphics cards will "confuse" the program

We check the post as sometimes we won't know until we've read it that we can't answer it, having seen one answer we may check again to see if we can then throw light on it.
As Mods we check posts to ensure that there are no problems with spam, bad behaviour etc, so all these add to your post counts.

Re: Running VideoStudio X6 with two graphics cards?
Thanks for your reply. If I've understood you correctly, you're explaining why my post has had so many hits. Is this correct?skier-hughes wrote:We check the post as sometimes we won't know until we've read it that we can't answer it, having seen one answer we may check again to see if we can then throw light on it. In any case, in your "Mod" capacity, can you kindly explain how to delete my previous threads? I loathe the idea of having added confusion to an already confusing world.

Yes to first question and deleted your previous threads for you.
I'm afraid I don't run two graphics cards, so cannot be of help to you in your specific problem.
This may help, here is a member of Corel replying to another post, try sending her a private message with a link to your thread and a request for help? We seldom get staff on here, so may as well make use of it while we can

Re: Running VideoStudio X6 with two graphics cards?
FWIW, quite apart from the Mod considerations already enumerated by skier-hughes above, I have also been interested in your problem, and have thought about it a bit, so 3 or 4 of your 200 hits can be attributed to me!!
My editing computer happens to have two graphics cards -- an onboard Intel one and a second, more powerful Catalyst one. But unfortunately, it is not possible to easily alternate between the two, much less use them at the same time, without going into BIOS each time. I have set VS to use the more powerful one (using the Catalyst Control Centre). But as I say, it still can only use that one card at a time.
Though I have trouble capturing audio using VS's screen capture facility, I think that has more to do with my audio set-up rather than being specifically related to either graphics card... Capturing the video seems to work fine. Anyway, I have other programs for screen capture which capture both video and audio, so I don't bother with screen capture in VS...

Thanks for your input Ken.Ken Berry wrote:FWIW, ...
The Matrox software is really good overall, but it doesn't offer any help in this case I guess.... it still can only use that one card at a time.
As I've said, the weird start-up problem (http://edu-net.net/media/vs/) has been with me since VSX4 Pro. The screencapture issue is, of course, new. The good ol' freebie CamStudio 2.0 still works great, so I guess I'll just stick with it.Though I have trouble capturing audio using VS's screen capture facility, I think that has more to do with my audio set-up rather than being specifically related to either graphics card... Re: Running VideoStudio X6 with two graphics cards?
Hi There.
I run 2 graphic cards (We have triple monitors)
Win 7 64 bit
we've had no issues with Pro x 5 or 6 ultimate. You can split the GUI up and have a full size preview pane on one monitor (doesn't seem to matter which one either) and the rest on another..
Hope this helps
cheers
John

Re: Running VideoStudio X6 with two graphics cards?
I am using VS X6 SP1 and have 2 video cards with three monitors and the screen capture DOES NOT WORK REGARDLESS of whether or not I have all cards in the system and only one monitor. The screen capture box open, I click record and then he capture button flashes and then disappears WITH NO CAPTURE.
I am using Windows 8 64bit and feel this is the cause but have no proof.
Anyone else????
