Safe to remove PSPx4?

Safe to remove PSPx4?
I assumed when I installed PSPx5 that it would overwrite (or whatever you call it) x4. But I see on my computer that I still have PSPx4 in addition to PSPx5. I'd like to remove x4 since I don't use it anymore. But will that affect x5? I don't want to remove x4 only to discover that something in x5 won't work anymore. Thanks.

Re: Safe to remove PSPx4?
PSPX4 and PSPX5 are considered completely separate on the machine. You can safely remove PSPX4 without worrying about it affecting PSPX5.
That's one of the cool things about PSP. All versions attempt to play well with each other. Many users here have multiple versions of PSP installed on their systems. And the reasons vary, such as being able to offer support for older versions, to testing scripts in multiple versions of PSP, and even just because a few tools have changed in function over the years and they preferred how one tool used to work.
So you can keep it on there, you can remove it, it doesn't matter.

Or you could leave it on there as insurance against problems.
(Murphy's Law 1 - If something can go wrong it will. Murphy's Law 2 If something can go wrong it will at the most inopportune time.)
Take it off and you can store say another 100 images on your computer (they can easily be stored and accessed on an external hard drive if space is a problem) .
Then some day in the future you have to process a few images urgently, but for some reason (and there can be many) your PSP X5 won't run. What to do?
No problem if you have PSP X4 still installed - just use that version to process your images.
Otherwise you have to find your PSP X4 CD / download and then go through the installation process or you could put a comment up on this forum and wait 1 to 3 days to get an answer that may not work.
One thing I have learnt in computing and photography is always have a Plan B , backup etc.
