Re: Same as First Video Clip/ MTS/AVCHD
Hi Natal
Sorry but you still don’t understand, this is what I did
1 / add a video to the timeline , HD from a Panasonic SD 900, this uses 16800kbps
No edits (full properties in earlier post)
2 / Share Create Video File AVCHD, top option , 1920 x 1080, uses 18000kbps
So what does the new video files properties show?
You would expect 18000 as that is the template I used.
But the new file uses 16800kbps
And I don’t understand that.
Yes I can deselect Smart Render or apply edits, cutting the clip etc and the new file uses 18000, as expected.
Another issue.
Later today I rendered a 50fps video with disastrous results.
Clearly I have a problem, and wondering if SP1 has anything to do with it.
I know I have rendered 50fps video before without problems

Re: Same as First Video Clip/ MTS/AVCHD
Trevor -- when you choose the preset 18 Mbps template, and the dialogue box comes up, do you click on Options and untick the 'Perform SmartRender' box? In other words, what I am trying to say is that even if you choose the 18 Mbps option, by default SmartRender will still be used for those portions of any project where no changes have been made, and the original 16.8 Mbps bitrate will thus be retained...

Re: Same as First Video Clip/ MTS/AVCHD
Hmmm
Hi Ken, no changes at all straight into rendering.
Surly if I choose a template with a different bit rate that bit rate should be used.
The audio rate is altered, so something has rendered but not the bit rate.
If I remove one frame then the remainder have not been edited so would retain the original rate, but not so 18000 is now used.
I have sent you a sample video, similar rendering issue but using 50fps, this one is very odd.
Anyway getting a little late to be playing with this machine, have a good day……..
Just re-installed X6 and have to try again, now I find X5 doing the same?
Its either my pc or the video type????

Re: Same as First Video Clip/ MTS/AVCHD
If you remove the first frame, the next few will be re-rendered at the higher bit rate because they are connected. The rest of the footage will stay the same however.
My guess is that the bit rate for properties is being read off the first few frames (even thought the average for the rest of the footage is lower), that would account for it increasing to 18 mbps.

Re: Same as First Video Clip/ MTS/AVCHD
Ok guys now that I have decided to save my rendered files using "Same as First Video Clip" when trying to watch the results on windows media player the file causes windows media player to stop working, despite the fact if I watch the original files I have no problem, so for some reason after VS renders the file, its cause windows media player to stop working, Can anyone explain why? I can watch the results using VLC but the quality isn't as good as WMP.

Re: Same as First Video Clip/ MTS/AVCHD
Hi
Were the properties of the new video same as original?
And is the quality the same as original?
I have just run a test using a sample from Panasonic using these settings.
I removed some frames just to simulate doing some editing, then Share create video File Same as first video
The resultant files properties were identical, both versions played in WMP without problems.
The only difference in your properties are NTSC I am Pal and the Audio being 5.1 surround, mine was Stereo.
Try rendering to stereo sound just in case WMP does not like 5.1?
Are you using the latest version of WMP

Re: Same as First Video Clip/ MTS/AVCHD
Hi Lata
Yes I have the latest WMP,the only difference I see in both properties other than one is shorter than the other because I edited out some footage is, the the original video as a Variable bit rate of 16800 kbps and the edited footage as a variable bit rate of 16405 kbps. Maybe this change is cause because I edited out some footage? Other than that there is no change.
The quality looks the same. I will try rendering to stereo sound, see if makes a difference.
Thanks

Re: Same as First Video Clip/ MTS/AVCHD
Hi
The bit rate of 16800 kbps should be used when using Same as First Video Clip option.
Strange that it changes to 16405????????????
Can you create a new template using Make Movie Templates Manager, use the Add function and browse for your original file.
The option should copy/use the original properties, Does the manager create a template using 16800
Share Create Video File using the new template, available at the bottom of the list.
Does that render to the correct properties

What is the slider option from 0 to 100 for? It can be found under the option /compression. ( Speed ---------------- Quality)

Re: Same as First Video Clip/ MTS/AVCHD
The default setting is supposed to represent a good balance between the time taken for the render and the final quality. Raising the slider closer to 100 is supposed to increase the quality a little but also increase the time taken for the render. Personally, I always accept the default position and have never had any complaints with the results. Some people with less powerful computers have also found that putting it at 100 sometimes causes their computer to crash. Using a lower setting than 100 usually corrects this.
