On close, PSP x5 message window stalls program

Just recently, upon closing PSP x5, a message window pops up, the title area usually references using the e-learning center or "Explore more ways to learn and love photography", but the window itself is empty except for the message "Do not display this message again" with a checkbox and a Close button. The Close button does not work, nor does the red X close window button. I have to go into Task Manager to finish closing the program.

I'm on a Windows 8 machine and this just started happening after months of use.

The program is up to date.

X4 here but maybe it'll work in X5. When you start PSP, open the Corel Guide palette, accessible via the Help menu. There are three tabs: home, messages, and something like gears. Click on the gears and then on message preferences. Unclick the 'keep me informed...' and 'automatically download...' options and maybe any others that might be there. You may need to restart PSP for it to take effect.

You may also have to delete the current downloaded messages.

These are found in:

C:\ProgramData\Corel\Messages

Just go ahead and delete all of the folders inside there. That should stop all current messages. And Forriner's will stop all future messages.

What's the fix for this? I just installed Service Pack 3 and that had no affect. Hello, Corel??? Are you listening???

I doubt if Corel are listening to your post.
Most if not all moderators and admin are volunteers and do not work for Corel.

However Corel use Facebook and as far as I know do reply to you so maybe that option would be better.

Video Studio did/does have a problem with internet connections and Browser Managers, searching the Knowledge Base may find more details.

Well, I did both things, turned off the messages first, then deleted the folder contents and rebooted the system, but I still get this stuck message window. Sometimes I get it when I START the program.

Anything else I can try?

I don't have “Browser manager”, "Babylon" or "BrowserProtect" on my system. I guess I need to leave Corel a bug issue notice. Thanks for your help!

I do not think there is a definite solution as the problem seems to affect a few and is probably different for each user????????????

Did you apply the messages preferences described by the earlier posters, and try deleting the messages from C:\ProgramData\Corel\Messages

You should be able to remove/close the white screen by using Alt+F4
