faster way to start psp X5

Post by kevinc54 »

Is there a faster way to start PSPX5? it is dog slow to start in win 7 and win 8. It is taking 10 minutes to start on my win 7 machine. all other programs start quickly including lightroom. saving files is also dog slow. My lappie has 16gb of ram and an SSD and it is still dog slow with PSPX5.
thanks.

My suggestion is to start looking for another culprit. My x5 takes about 15-20 seconds to start first time I turn the computer on. Then if I close x5 and decide to start it again it only takes 5-6 seconds.
Both my machines, latop and desktop, are i3, 4gig units. Win7.

Check your setups and preferences. I'm away from home at the moment and can't give you any examples.

I reset the stuff under 'preferences'. It did start up a bit quicker, am downloading some windows updates as well will see if that helps or not. It seems to want to load all of my files in 'my pictures' at start up, is there a way to stop that?

In your general preferences set it to start in Edit mode and see if that helps. I also have a 25 second delay to first screen and about 36 seconds to functionality on an XP Home with 3Gb Ram.
Close and Restart gives 6 seconds and 10 seconds to functionality.
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867

Yes start up in Edit mode.
I wonder why it is that the first start takes longer? I often start it and do something else then turn it off. Next start up is always faster. Unit you close down the computer.

I blocked the cataloguing in 'my pictures and 'photos' folder. Also went into the registry and deleted purehd. PSPX5 now loads in about 90 seconds which is a big improvement over the 10 mins take previously. Have not seen the purehd.msi pop up message either.
