Eraser tool not working correctly PSP X5

Post by ArcticGuard »

Hello,

Since I first upgraded from PSP X3, 5 months ago the eraser tool has worked great. But just in the last week I have been having problems with it not working correctly. It seems like it is faded and not erasing like it should. The hardness IS raised up to 100 but still no help. The background eraser is working great, it is only the eraser tool that is acting up. Here is a screen capture of what it is doing. Any suggestions from anyone?

Thanks in advance

The opacity is set at 100, it along with the hardness setting were one of the first things I checked. For whatever reason I see the screen capture did not show up in my earlier post. Let me look into why it didn't and I will try to post it again.

It looks like you're erasing with some kind of background pattern. On the brush options bar, click on the button to the right of the Preset button. It should show a choice of patterns; is yours set to something other than "+Default"?

Every now and again I have a similar issue. For me something resets the Bush Variance.
If you are using a pen or any pressure sensitive tool check Brush Variance under Palettes and see if the pressure sensitivity has changed. Or other setting.

I have checked and tried that as well, Here is a better pic that shows the settings of my trying the default eraser pattern.

Ok, you hit it on the head there. When I opened up those palettes to get the screen capture for you. I noticed that last time I had messed with the materials while creating some patterns and that was messing up the eraser tool.

Got it working again, thanks for the help people!!
