as mikmak, I think the API is key.
I love the way that in ASP, the plugins can do most things in layers and are mask-savvy.
Until the latest announcements I was looking seriously at moving to Capture - but its layers and masks are limited.
I shall just use it for (almost) blown highlights until ASP is fixed and less 'pink'.

I would give the left one of a certain part of my anatomy for a batch mode that would let me feed in a list of paths to images and have it run one of the output generators against each one, all without starting the GUI.

I have no issues with the people requesting better catalog/DAM features, but I would ask that they remain completely optional.

I don't use them and don't want the additional overhead/burden associated with them. All my photos are properly organized across drives and within directory structures, adding another (unnecessary) layer of "organization" would not be welcome.

I've been a happy Bibble/ASP user since the days of Bibble v4, speed and ease of use are far more important (IMHO) than ancillary data management.

You can also add my name to the list of those interested in becoming a 2.0 beta tester, it's nice to see some action out of Corel.

Thank you for your post, Rick.

I don't have many complaints about the existing version apart from the very slow debut of new camera profiles, but it'd be nice if the following features are included / improved in the new version:

1. Sort by file type.
2. Update the black and white plugin and use language that photograhers can understand (Red 25A, Green X1, Yellow K2, etc.)
3. Reference frame-based dust / hot pixel cancellation

Please count me in if new beta-testers are needed.

- watched folders - for batches - we had that already in bibble!
- automatic re-import in the catalog when changes are made in file system mode
- better search options - e.g. for pictures that have been processed with a special plugin

Hello.
I like a lot of the ASP, but I think some tools need to be MUCH improved, as highlight recovery and the sharpening. I would love a versatile tool for adding watermarks, such as Adobe Lightroom (the tool of PaintShop Pro X5 is very limited and does not allow use of watermarks on images like logos, etc).
And of course, I would love to be a beta tester of ASP 2. :)

Update: A Glamour Glow effect plugin would be very welcome.

Version 2? I supppose it won't be free upgrade, right? So, there was no serious update for current AffterShot version for a year. How do you plan to return customers loyality? I won't spent a cent if AfterShot 1.x stay as it is in terms of image quality and lens database.

DAM improvement.

Searching anything : at least add :
- a field to type sql request
- a way to save searches

This will let us to search what we want easily without complicating the existing metadata tree. Then we will be able to sort picture :
- without keywords at all (this means to me : to be tagged)
- without specific keywords
- without GPS info (this means to me : to be tagged)
- taken in a specific month what ever the year (spring winter etc...)
- taken within a circle of x km form a specific point
- ...

Automatic image analysis. Add a way to automatically find
- image / version in B&W
- image / version with a specific main color
- hard/soft contrasted pictures
- image that uses a specific third party plugin

(I do this from times to times, manually by keyword)

Improve french translation. Many errors (such as typo !!) have already been reported on the monkey and there : http://forum.aftershotpro.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=27
Nothing has been done since the first release of ASP !

Question? Do we want ASP to be 'just' a Raw editor or do we want it to become a full blown editor? Can we live with the Raw features in ASP and live with editing features in programs such as PSPx5?

speaking for myself.. i have rarely ever resort to a pixel editor at all for my pictures, so i am more than happy with the raw editing features in ASP. i'd rather see more focus on workflow improvements like server-client ability, better DAM features, input-output plugins and similar things.
Bibble since 2004. Aftershot until 2020. From then on darktable.

The number one thing that needs working on is getting the IQ on par with the rest.
As soon as images are a bit borderline (under- or overexposed, high ISO), AS falls way behind Photo Ninja, LR and C1.
More than a year without any real work on the engine while the others where progressing really shows....

cheers

Send bugs to the Monkey // AfterShot Kickstart Guide // sRGB clipping sucks and Adobe RGB is just as bad

It is obvious that ASP2.0 render engine will be quite different from ASP1.0's one. But please, please, please... don't remove ASP1.x engine from ASP2.0 and let us choose, for already processed images, to keep the old engine or to upgrade to the new one.

I really do not want to rework my whole collection... It was quite unfair the way it happens for the Bibble to ASP migration.

Thanks

NB: C1 and LR offer such options.
