Hi
I wanted to upgrade from paintshop pro x2 to x5 (want to go to 64 bit)
but I have a severe problem. Here the steps to reproduce it:
1. open only one big tif file at a time (edit window)
(from canon scanner 600 dpi A4 scan around 100 mb per file i think around 5500 to 3200 pixels)
2. sometimes i turn/rotate the picture first with the rotate tool (0 to 0,2 degrees)
3. use the crop/trim function to cut a small part of the edge
4. save the image and close it ( there is never more than one file opened in psp) its now around 80 mb in size
dont close psp x5 and
repeat steps 1 to 4 with other images. (with smaller 30mb images it did not happen and if I close x5
and reopen it after every 5th tif-image it does not happen too, so somewhere memory is not given free)
When doing this when saving somewhere at the 7th - latest at the 10th image that image is saved corrupted.
(it shows in the lower half vertical grey lines)
the big problem is: there is no error message and you only see that the image is corrupted
when you view it again or if you see it in the thumbnail view of windows explorer.
second problem is that after doing an undo after a crop/trim step (3.) the picture is gone and the area is white.
(dont save now!!)
x5 version is the current trial version (15.2 something - when i try to install sp2 it says its not necessary)
this happens on 2 different machines
mach 1: intel nuc i3217u 8GB ram, c drive 128 gb ssd, pic-drive: usb hd with 500 GB
mach 2: i7 2600k, 16 gb ram, cdrive 128 gb ssd, pic drivé: internal 2tb hd or internal ssd 256 gb (makes no difference)
on both machines psp x5 system info only shows 4GB ram free so it seems its not really 64 bit programm.

Re: PSP X5 sp2 corrupts big tif files at save time
I haven't an answer for your problem. But I often open as many as 6-7 tiff files at once. They are around the 150-250 meg size. No problems other than slowing down the computer some what. Both my computers have similar configurations to your m1. So I'm not so sure it's a PSPx5 issue but rather a compatibility with some of your settings.

Re: PSP X5 sp2 corrupts big tif files at save time
i think it has to do with the cropping tool, because the undo of that also
doesnt work. 6 or 7 files is the "edge" when it starts very likely to happen
and more than 10 is definitely not possible.
and I even only open one file at a time and close it before opening the next.
the only thing that helps is closing and reopening psp after the 6th file but thats not really an option.
on the second machine i did not change any settings - to be sure it was
not a change in the settings by me - just installed the psp x5 trial version which already has sp2
and tested if it happens there too, what it did.
with this error I'll definitely not buy x5
my old x2 is only on a slow 32 bit xp machine - dont want to install x2 on the new 64 bit machine - dont know if it would work at all.
trial period is over so i can't do any more testing
this means that i have to choose another vendor - I would have liked to stay with psp.
I also tried to contact corel some weeks ago, but no reply ... I wonder that nobody there is interested in
such a severe problem. ... loosing files because they are corrupted is an absolute no go.
fortunately i did the tests on the new machine with a copy of the files....

Re: PSP X5 sp2 corrupts big tif files at save time
current status:
corel support meanwhile contacted me and I could reproduce the error on the i3/8GB pc, but
on a new installed win 7 I needed this time more than 15 steps/files until it happened.
I'll post when I hear more from support - I'm now quite confident that the error will
be solved and I can stay with psp
I had a look into the cloud products of a (quite expensive) competitor,
but it seems they will only offer cloud-rental-software in future whats an absolute no go for me.
And if this tif related psp bug will be solved I'll anyway not think about changing to any other vendor.

Re: PSP X5 sp2 corrupts big tif files at save time
Hi
I meanwhile tested pspx6 64bit
the second problem:
"second problem is that after doing an undo after a crop/trim step (3.) the picture is gone and the displayed screen area is white.
(dont save now!!)"
still exists with pspx6.
I did not have time yet to test the main memory problem with psp x6.
there is now more memory available with x6 64bit, so most likely the problem would
occur much later if its not yet fixed but I had no time to test this yet.

Does anyone know if this issue has had a resolution?
