Getting rid of the grinning idiot

Post by cmw »

Does anyone know how to get rid of the grinning idiot that appears when you start PhotoImpact 10 :?:

At least in PI6 the picture was of an attractive woman.

I've put up with the idiot's stupid grin for long enough, but now he is really starting to bug me, and he just has to go.

There is no way to eliminate the splash screen in PI10 - we're stuck with the "Ulead Dude" as I call him. Actually, I'd prefer him to a pretty girl but if had a choice, I'd rather not have it at all!!!

There is a possibility that we might be able to eliminate if another patch is released. We can always wish!!

If that was the only problem I had I would be happy.....I could live with it.

Man, that would be nice to kill the spash screen!! Heck, would like it removed in Photo Explorer and VideoStudio too!!!!

For the v10 patch, "Shows the Splash Screen on launch" is listed as a "Enhancement". That's funny! Make the program faster and skip the silly splash screens!!!!!

There were many complaints about the PI10 enhancement. My whole group was up in arms. We KNOW it's PhotoImpact and don't need a reminder each time we execute the program.

Now, as for PEX and most other programs, you can bypass the splash screen. To eliminate it, right-click on the icon on your desktop. Select Properties from the pop-up menu. In the Target window, add /n to the end of the string. You need to add it outside of the quotes and be sure to insert a space before the /n. It should look like this:

"C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Pex.exe" /n

Two cents...

I concur about the annoying smiling Ulead dude...
I cannot believe this splash screen elimination was overlooked.
At least in the SP1 it should have been addressed - such a simple line of code.

When I execute PI I simply walk away until time as passed and so has HE..
Looking for the stars to align and the day when a simple /N will eliminate him.

well hold on here partner...

I just placed the "/N" at the end -
"C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead PhotoImpact 10\Iedit.exe" /N

and he is gone - the annoying man has gone - I tell ya!
Make sure you put a space after the "

Now perhaps if this addresses the issue Ulead will put an update in the help screen pertaining to this issue? Always something... lol

Yes... it does work now. It was addressed in the patch that was released. That's the first thing I did - get rid of the Ulead Dude!! :)

So... if you haven't installed the patch yet and you want to elimnate this pesky screen.. go get that patch!!! The /n switch will then work just fine.

The powers that be probably thought they were doing us a favor by NOT letting us bypass the screen. It was even listed as an enhancement!

The /N switch worked for Photo Album, but the Dude is still glaring at me in Impact.

Everything is up-to-date, any other suggestions?

I would really like to get rid of the Splash Screen, this guy looks like my pesky neighbor!

Well, it worked in all versions of PI until PI10 - but they fixed that with the patch. It works with most programs, not just Ulead stuff. Are you sure you left a space before the / ?? You might also try a lower case /n and see if that works for you.

It also works in VS9 to get rid of the Ulead Woman.

The only thing is, you have to have to be patient because the program still loads just as slow as it does when she's there. If you get in a hurry, you might think that it's not coming up and get click happy. Just wait and it will eventually come up. Same amount of time as when she's there, just nothing to look at while waiting.
