When a video is loaded does it make a difference for the output what the project properties is set to, standard the project properties is always mpeg in my Videostudio X5, while i am editing avi or mp4 etc..?
Is there a way to see which field order a video has like progressive of upper field etc? Right click the video file in Studio does not give the answer. When i open mediainfo or another like gspot i do also not see field order yet maybe under a different name there is: progressive but is that frame beased, UFF or LFF?

Re: project properties and field order
No -- you can largely forget about Project Properties unless you are using standard def DV/AVI or standard def mpeg-2. Corel has never upgraded Project Properties to take into account high def video. I just about never take them into account. It is your output properties you have to be much more concerned about.
As for Field Order, right clicking in VS and selecting Properties will usually tell you whether it is UFF, LFF or Frame Based. If nothing is there, then the video will usually be Progressive high def video (neither UFF nor LFF but every frame being a full image, rather than a series of interleaved half frames as in UFF/LFF). Clear as mud? Progressive and Frame Based amount to the same thing, with the former being used mainly in relation to high def video, and the latter for standard def videos, and particularly slideshows.

Re: project properties and field order
A couple of weeks ago, I got a new/strange experience with those "prokect settings". I don't usually care about those settings, but when I was playing around with 2 (fullhhd) screens in extended view (laptop and external monitor connected through HDMI), i wanted to get the best possible fullscreen view of the preview window on my external monittor. I noticed that by editing the project settings to 1080p50 I got a fullhd preview window! I found out that it only works with 50/60p enabled (in X6). I normally have 1080p50 footage, but I even with interlaced footage the fullhd preview works when 50/60p is enabled.

Re: project properties and field order
I assume you use AVI as the format for doing that since I don't think VS allows mpeg transport stream as an option for Project Properties... But interesting -- thanks Erdna!I noticed that by editing the project settings to 1080p50

Re: project properties and field order
Yes Ken, a strange relation, project properties and preview window resolution. But it is real. The project properties are set as AVI and markes as "uncompressed". I suppose these are my decompressed original h284 (.mts) 1080p50 files.
