I extracted a large m2ts file from a BD disc in order to extract parts that I want to include in my VSP travel project. Once extracted, my large standalone m2ts file plays well on PowerDVD (video + audio). Once inserted in the VSX5 timeline, it plays without audio. I "multi-trimmed" the large file into 4 smaller extracts with VSX5, and get the same problem (no audio). I "created a video file" of each in m2t format to see if PowerDVD would the be able to get the audio out of the m2t stream file once finished, but still no audio. Why is audio lost from the original m2ts file when inserted in VSX5 ?
Thanks !

Re: m2ts without audio
I assume that the audio is some version of Dolby but can you confirm that please?
Does the audio not play in both Clip and Project mode?

Re: m2ts without audio
The Bluray disc back cover says "dts-HD Master Audio 5.1" and I have attached the file properties from VSX5. There is no audio in both the Project or Clip playback. The clip is very large (it is the entire BD movie) at 40Gb as the movie is all in only one m2ts file. I need to extract 4 smaller clips from it to insert in my recent trip in Africa , but have no choice than to load it on VSX5 to use the "multi-trim" feature to extract the clips. See attachment for properties.

Re: m2ts without audio
Although the Properties show 5.1 Dolby -- which is what it would be trying to do -- I suspect that your BD disc uses the DTS Master format as its main audio. DTS Master (also called DTS++) is a variant of DTS and uses a different technology to Dolby compression. Moreover, I don't think any version of Video Studio can "see" or play it. I suspect your disc will indeed have Dolby on it as well as the (usually optional) DTS track. But I am afraid I have no idea how you would capture the Dolby audio rather than the DTS one. I suspect a program like Video ReDo might be able to separate the tracks, but that of course is a commercial program. Hopefully someone with more experience on audio questions might be able to answer this...

Re: m2ts without audio
Just as a footnote to the DTS issue, I note that the Corel.com website http://www.corel.com/corel/product/inde ... 00077#tab4 lists the following audio formats as being acceptable:
You will note that DTS is not among them. So if indeed the main audio stream on the BD disc was indeed DTS, as opposed to Dolby, that would explain the silence. VS would be trying to capture audio using the Dolby specifications in your attachment, but in fact was not receiving anything since the audio stream was DTS...Audio: Dolby Digital Stereo, Dolby Digital 5.1, MP3, MPA, WAV, QuickTime, Windows Media Audio, Ogg Vorbis

Re: m2ts without audio
I wonder if you could strip out the audio using Audacity, a free good audio programme, and convert to wav or something VS can use.
