I started a VSX5 project that my friend wanted to piggyback on with his VSX4 software . He tells me that VSX4 opens but nothing seems to happen afterwards. Does it mean that VSX4 is incompatible with VSX5 .vsp file projects ?
Thanks !

Re: can VSX4 open a VSX5 project ?
Video Studio can open projects made in earlier versions. However, an earlier version cannot open a project made in a later version.
In your case, however, there is a way around this. You have to reopen the project in X5, and then go to File > Save As. In the dialogue box which appears, give the project a suitable name. In the window immediately below that (Save As Type) click on the downward arrow. You will see you can save it as either an X5, X4 or X3 type project. Save it, of course, as an X4 type and your friend should now be able to open it.
Note, however, that if you used any filter in X5 which is not available in X4, that filter will be disabled in the X4 version.
It would probably be a good idea to save your project in future in both X5 and X4 formats, just in case.
