Can't save Video File under Share?

Post by redbeard52 »

Video Studio Pro X5: I've saved a project with several clips and then tried to "Share" the video using Create Video File. After I get to the Save screen and click Save with a filename, nothing happens - it does not start rendering and no file is saved. But then I saved a short clip from the same file as a separate Project File, and I was able to create a video file or the short clip.

What would cause Share not to be able to create a Video File from a Project File?

Hello - welcome

It rather sounds as though you have at least one rogue clip in there somewhere which VideoStudio does not like.

Are all the clips from the same source ? or have any of them arrived in VS by a different route.

Unless there is a clip from a different source or one which has been treated differently before being imported to VS the only way to eliminate the rogue may be a slow process of trying to render each clip individually until you find the one(s) which stop the render.

Can you at least right click on one of the clips (if they are all the same format) and copy ALL their Properties here please -- or at least take a screen grab and upload the image here?

Thank you for your responses.

Attached is a Screen Capture with the Clip file properties shown.

I transferred three clips from my camera to my PC. I used "Multi Trim" on one of the clips to break it into 3 separate clips and then muted the sound on one clip segment. I then used all 5 clips to form a Project File.

Another thing that does not work with this file: I cannot view the whole "Project File" in the Preview window nor can I view the Project File using Project Playback under the Share tab. But I "can" view each of the individual clips in the Preview window.

OK -- you have .mov files. Can we assume you have Quicktime on your computer? If so, which version. Some people have trouble with the latest version (though this appears to have been corrected with X6) and have to revert to an earlier version to get things to work.

Hmmm... that's the latest version, and I have it too. It works fine for me. But as I said above, some users, for unknown reasons, can't use the current version, though they find that reverting to an earlier versions often cures their problems. That earlier version is 7.5.5 and can be found on http://support.apple.com/downloads/#quicktime Go to the bottom of that page and click on Next. On the new page, version 7.5.5 for Windows can be found right at the top.

I reverted to Quick Time 7.6 for Windows (could not find 7.5.5 for Windows) - it did not alter the issues I am having. (I did not redo the edits of the clips as that would be quite time consuming.)

I'm wondering if I could convert the clips to a different format in lieu of ".MOV". But I'm not sure that would change the Project File that has already been created?

All of your original videos are still on your computer untouched - even though you have done a lot of editing.

so there is no reason why you cannot make a COPY of those videos but in a different format.

you could then used those copies to make a new project - which providing you save with a new project name will not overwrite any of your previous work.
