Creating a video

Post by bendgee »

I seem to have a ( ongoing) or a series of problems trying to create a video from still Photos or a video that I take with my little sony cybershot camera. I believe that the entire problem is the file extensions. I get UDF,MOFF,MP4 to name a few.
MY Camera produces MP-4 photos I download them as such do I have to change or convert them?
I tried to convert some to wmv but that did not work . I get a message that windows photo viewer may not be working and could need an update if that is needed where would I get that?
I need to know what has to be done . I use corel video studio x5 and also corel paintshop pro x4.on windows 7.0

If you want to create a video slide show why not use the VideoStudio you say you have - you will find it very easy and you can add titles, crossfades and music etc. and output a whole range of videos including burning a DVD to play on your TV - use VideoStudio.

Brian I do try to use my Corel Video X5 . The box states its output formats supported are: AVI,MPEG-2,AVCHHD, MPEG-4. H264, BDVM, HDV,QUICK TIME. REALVIDEO, WINDOWS MEDIA FORMAT, 3GPP, 3GPP2, WEBM, and HDML5. I have checked to have my choice when making a video to select Windows Media Player as I under stood that might be more acceptable to cover a wider range of receivers'
Could you advise me what would be the best to select when making a video?
I appreciate your help Bendgee

The output you select in VideoStudio depends on what you intend to do with your final video - if you wish to put it on a DVD which will play in yours and all your friends DVD players then you need to make mpeg-2, but if you are wanting to upload it to youtube or some other video site then most people will use MP4 (mpeg-4). VideoStudio has dropped wmv as an output as it has very little use these days although you can use WebM as an alternative.

If we are going to discuss VideoStudio I should move this topic to that forum.
