You probably have the 'optional' CD (which contains the program) which you opt to purchase when you buy the download version. So to that extent, you have probably been dudded. But with that CD, you can certainly use the Smart Download option -- only, as you've already noticed, that can be a dreadfully slow option, even for people with broadban connections.

'failed to load template file'

Post by charvey »

I recently purchased/downloaded VS9, and have been incredibly frustrated by this 'failed to load template file' error. As others have said, the template files are all right where they should be in C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 9.0\Template\ but no matter what I do I can't get VS to actually do menus. This is really crazy for a product that has been out for what, about a year now, with many others reporting this error for many months now.
After using VS9 to create an mpeg file, I close VS, restart it, go to Share: Create Disk, Add Video, load the previously saved mpeg file, and with Create Menu checked, when I hit "Add/Edit Chapter" Auto... chapters every 10 minutes, (creates 9 chapters), I get the "Failed to load template file" error box twice, and once more if I click Next. I follow all the recommendations in this forum for matching video properties, etc. And I've tried various tricks mentioned about selecting Holiday (and every other) template, going forward, backward, etc. All with no success. So why did I upgrade from VS7 ?? (well, it had other problems, but this is a BIG ONE in VS9)'
VS is so great compared to other sofware out there (e.g., so much faster than expensive Adobe products), but to run into major bugs like this is really disappointing.
